Learning System Administrator

Location: 100% Remote

Terms of Employment

  • W2 Contract, 6 Months

Overview

The Learning Systems Administrator is responsible for maintaining the stability, configuration, governance, and ongoing optimization of the Learning Management System (LMS). This role ensures the integrity of backend system configuration, supports scalable development, and establishes strong governance and operational processes to sustain day-to-day system functionality.

This individual serves as the technical steward of the LMS, ensuring performance reliability, data accuracy, integration, stability, and alignment with enterprise learning and compliance objectives.

Responsibilities

System Stability & Backend Configuration

  • Own the day-to-day administration and health of the LMS platform.
  • Configure and maintain backend system settings including domains, security roles, workflows, learning objects, and automation rules.
  • Monitor system performance and proactively resolve issues impacting usability or reliability.
  • Manage releases, updates, patches, and regression testing to ensure business continuity.
  • Maintain documentation of system configurations and technical standards.

System Development & Optimization

  • Design and implement scalable solutions within the LMS that align with enterprise learning strategy.
  • Lead configuration enhancements and system improvements to streamline user experience and administrative efficiency.
  • Evaluate new features and functionality; recommend adoption where appropriate.
  • Partner with HRIS, IT, and reporting teams to optimize integrations and data flows.

Governance & Process Management

  • Establish and maintain governance frameworks for LMS administration, including:
    • Naming conventions
    • Metadata standards
    • Role-based security models
    • Change management protocols
  • Define and document operational processes to ensure consistency and scalability.
  • Ensure compliance with data privacy, audit, and regulatory requirements.
  • Develop and maintain internal controls to support reporting accuracy and system integrity.

Operational Support

  • Serve as the escalation point for complex LMS issues.
  • Partner with learning stakeholders to translate business needs into system solutions.
  • Support audits, compliance reporting, and certification tracking.
  • Provide guidance and enablement to learning team members on LMS functionality and best practices.

Required Skills & Experience

  • Bachelor's degree.
  • Deep understanding of enterprise learning management systems (LMS) such as Cornerstone On Demand, Workday Learning, Saba, or Docebo
  • Familiarity with tools like Degreed, EdCast, or LinkedIn Learning Hub and how they integrate with LMS platforms
  • Knowledge of SCORM/xAPI standards, content authoring tools (e.g., Articulate, Captivate), and media hosting platforms
  • AI-Driven Solutions -- Understanding of AI and machine learning applications in learning (recommendation engines, chatbots, adaptive learning)
  • Experience defining requirements, evaluating vendors, and managing end-to-end selection and implementation processes.
  • Understanding of data governance, user access control, audit readiness, and regulatory requirements
  • Familiarity with structured change control processes, testing protocols, and communication planning during releases or upgrades.
  • Demonstrated ability to plan, meet deadlines, and manage competing priorities.
  • Strong written and oral communication, presentation, and stakeholder management skills.
  • 3--5+ years of experience administering an enterprise LMS (e.g., Cornerstone, Workday Learning, Success Factors, etc.).
  • Strong understanding of backend configuration, system security, metadata, and automation workflows.
  • Experience supporting integrations between LMS and downstream systems.
  • Demonstrated ability to implement governance and scalable operational processes.
  • Analytical mindset with strong attention to data integrity and system stability.
  • Excellent documentation and cross-functional communication skills.
  • Experience with automation tools, AI applications, or digital enablement initiatives in learning or HR preferred.
  • Strategic mindset with hands-on comfort in execution and problem-solving

Preferred Skills & Experience

  • Master's degree or relevant certification preferred.
  • Experience in professional services strongly preferred.
  • Understanding of how learning systems connect with HRIS (Workday, PeopleSoft, etc.), identity management, and data systems via APIs or middleware.
  • Ability to anticipate future learning technology trends and position RSM's ecosystem for long term success.
  • Ensures technology initiatives directly support firm wide business and talent strategies.
