SAP Methodology Manager

  • Function: SAP Practice / Delivery Excellence
  • Reports To: SAP PMO Leader
  • Location: Flexible / Hybrid
  • Employment Type: Full-Time, Permanent
  • Experience: 5+ Years (SAP Delivery & PMO)

Position Summary

The SAP Methodology Manager is responsible for establishing and supporting the delivery backbone of the SAP practice. This individual works with the PMO Leader, who owns the end-to-end definition, adoption, and continuous improvement of SAP delivery methodologies, governance frameworks, PMO tooling, and project reporting standards across the portfolio.

Operating at the intersection of delivery execution, quality assurance, and strategic enablement, the SAP Methodology Manager ensures that all engagements --- spanning S/4HANA implementations, RISE/GROW with SAP transformations, and BTP-enabled solutions --- are provided with consistent methodology to be used across all Build engagements.

Key Responsibilities

1. SAP Delivery Methodology
  • Evolve the firm's SAP delivery methodology, integrating SAP Activate with internal accelerators, pre-built workstreams, and lessons learned from past engagements.
  • Maintain methodology artifacts covering Discover, Prepare, Explore, Realize, Deploy, and Run phases, aligned to RISE with SAP commercial constructs.
  • Integrate BTP integration patterns, iRPA/automation workstreams, and AI-augmented delivery considerations into core methodology documentation.
  • Ensure methodology is actively used by delivery teams and embedded in pre-sales solutioning, SOW development, and project kickoff processes.
2. PMO Tools & Infrastructure
  • Define, configure, and maintain the PMO toolset --- including project tracking platforms (e.g., JIRA, Microsoft Project), Cloud ALM integration, and reporting dashboards.
  • Standardize project lifecycle management practices: project setup, baseline scheduling, milestone tracking, RAID log management, change control, and closeout.
  • Establish and govern a centralized PMO repository for all project artifacts, templates, and historical data.
  • Evaluate and recommend tooling improvements in line with evolving SAP ecosystem capabilities and industry PMO best practices.
3. Governance Templates & Frameworks
  • Design and maintain a comprehensive library of governance templates: Project Charters, RAID Logs, RACI Matrices, Steering Committee Decks, Change Request Forms, Go-Live Readiness Checklists, and Hypercare Plans.
  • Establish a governance cadence framework --- defining meeting structures, escalation protocols, decision rights, and approval thresholds for projects of varying scale and complexity.
4. Project Status Reporting
  • Define and enforce a consistent project status reporting framework, including weekly, bi-weekly, and monthly report templates calibrated by engagement type and client tier.
5. Stakeholder Engagement & Capability Building
  • Act as a trusted advisor to Delivery Managers, Project Managers, and Account Leads on methodology application, escalation handling, and governance best practices.
  • Design and deliver PMO capability-building programs for delivery staff, including onboarding modules, methodology training, and tooling enablement.

Required Qualifications & Experience

Education
  • Bachelor's degree in Business, Information Technology, Engineering, or a related field
  • SAP Activate Certification preferred.
SAP-Specific Experience
  • Experience in SAP delivery within an SAP Systems Integrator environment.
  • Hands-on experience with SAP Cloud ALM (or similar tools) for project management; exposure to SAP Solution Manager a plus.
PMO & Delivery Competencies
  • Proven track record designing and operationalizing PMO functions in a consulting environment.
  • Proficiency in project tracking tools (JIRA, Smartsheet, MS Project, or equivalent).
  • Strong command of RAID management and portfolio reporting.

Leadership & Behavioral Competencies

  • Structured Thinking: Brings order to complexity; designs scalable systems and frameworks that others can follow without handholding.
  • Influence Without Authority: Drives adoption of methodology and governance standards across delivery teams without direct line authority.
  • Stakeholder Management: Communicates clearly and credibly with clients, delivery leads, and senior leadership.
  • Continuous Improvement Mindset: Constantly questions the status quo; proactively identifies gaps and closes them before they become delivery risks.

What Success Looks Like --- First 12 Months

  • PMO Playbook published, endorsed by practice leadership, and actively in use across all active engagements.
  • Methodology training program launched.

Note: This job description is intended to reflect the primary responsibilities of the role and does not constitute an exhaustive list. Responsibilities may evolve in line with practice growth and strategic priorities.
