Position Summary

The Manager of Release Coordination leads a team of Release Coordinators in planning, coordinating, testing, and overseeing the seamless release of software applications and updates from development to production. This role ensures efficient release processes that minimize end-user impact, while also developing and supporting the team. The Manager leverages AI-assisted tools and workflows to enhance team output, accelerate release cycles, and proactively identify risks. Success in this role requires a strong understanding of product functionality, the ability to guide team members through complex release scenarios, and exceptional leadership skills to build a high-performing, collaborative team.

Essential Job Functions/Responsibilities

A successful Manager of Release Coordination is organized, detail-oriented, and possesses excellent communication, problem-solving, and leadership skills. They act as a crucial link between development, product, and operations, modeling responsible AI tool utilization while fostering a team that consistently delivers successful software releases for Nymbus clients and their end-users.

Team Leadership & People Management

  • Manage, mentor, and develop Release Coordinators, providing regular coaching, feedback, and performance guidance.
  • Conduct performance reviews and support professional development goals.
  • Assign and balance workload based on release scope, complexity, and individual capacity.
  • Foster a team culture of accountability, continuous learning, and effective AI tool integration.
  • Participate in hiring and onboarding new Release Coordinators.

Planning and Scheduling

  • Guide the team in collaborating with development, testing, and deployment teams to plan release activities, utilizing AI-powered tools for dependency tracking and proactive scheduling conflict identification.
  • Develop and maintain release schedules, employing AI-assisted risk modeling to anticipate bottlenecks and downstream impacts.
  • Coordinate with stakeholders to ensure alignment on release timelines.
  • Engage directly with clients to review release readiness.

Communication

  • Facilitate clear communication between development, QA, operations, and client-facing teams throughout the release lifecycle.
  • Utilize AI writing tools to draft and refine release notes, stakeholder updates, and post-release summaries.
  • Provide regular updates on release progress, using AI-generated digests for concise communication.
  • Serve as an escalation point for client and cross-team communications during at-risk releases.

Risk Management

  • Identify potential risks and issues impacting end-users by leveraging AI-assisted analysis of historical release data and open tickets.
  • Guide the team in developing contingency plans and mitigating risks before production deployment.

Release Documentation

  • Ensure accurate, up-to-date, and accessible release documentation, using AI tools for drafting, reviewing, and maintaining configuration run lists and checklists.
  • Apply AI-assisted summarization for clear, client-appropriate communication of complex release notes.

Coordination of Testing

  • Collaborate with QA teams to ensure comprehensive pre-release testing.
  • Promote the use of AI-assisted test case generation for broader coverage, especially for regression and edge cases.
  • Schedule and oversee testing activities, including UAT and regression testing.
  • Ensure the team maintains a thorough understanding of how current clients utilize Nymbus products (files, settings, queries, back-office configurations).
  • Guide coordinators in understanding expected feature behavior against acceptance criteria, using AI tools to cross-reference with documented requirements.
  • Ensure testing issues are clearly documented, properly dispositioned, and escalated appropriately.
  • Coach team members on accurately assessing issue severity.
  • Encourage creative, scenario-based thinking in test case design, incorporating real client-reported issues.

Deployment Oversight

  • Coordinate deployment activities with infrastructure teams, ensuring AI-powered monitoring tools are in place pre-go-live.
  • Monitor the deployment process against the planned schedule and confirm rollback procedures are ready.
  • Participate in upgrade events, utilizing AI-assisted runbooks and checklists to minimize manual errors.

Post-Release Support

  • Monitor post-release stability using AI-powered observability and alerting tools for rapid anomaly detection.
  • Oversee the team's coordination and resolution of post-release issues.
  • Ensure prompt escalation of urgent and high-priority issues to mitigate end-user risk.
  • Collect and synthesize feedback from clients, stakeholders, and teams for continuous improvement, using AI tools to identify themes and patterns.

Environment Management

  • Coordinate with the infrastructure team to maintain consistency across environments.
  • Ensure environments are refreshed with current data and configurations match production.
  • Utilize AI-assisted environment comparison tools to detect configuration drift early.

Continuous Improvement

  • Identify opportunities for process improvement within the release management lifecycle, including the adoption of new AI tooling.
  • Implement best practices and incorporate lessons learned from previous releases.
  • Stay current on emerging AI tools relevant to release management, QA, and DevOps, guiding the team in their effective adoption.

Training and Support

  • Provide training and support to the release coordination team and cross-functional partners on effective AI tool usage within release workflows.
  • Foster collaboration, continuous learning, and communication to enhance release process efficiency.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in a related field.
  • Knowledge of customer service techniques and standards.
  • 2+ years of people management or team lead experience.
  • Proven organizational, analytical, and communication skills.
  • Several years of banking experience preferred, specializing in Deposits, Loans, GL, or Back Office Operations.
  • Working knowledge of Google Suite, Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint), and modern collaboration platforms.
  • Working knowledge of JIRA and Confluence.
  • Familiarity with AI productivity tools (e.g., AI writing assistants, automated test generation, AI-powered monitoring/observability platforms); ability and willingness to adopt new tools.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills, with or without AI assistance.
  • Effective public presentation skills.
  • Diligent time management and analytical skills.
  • Flexibility for occasional travel, and ability to work evening and/or weekend hours as needed.
  • Ability to perform all other related duties as required or assigned.
  • Process- and detail-oriented with a continuous improvement mindset.
