About This Opportunity

Overflow Paralegal Group is a contract paralegal staffing company that places vetted, experienced paralegals with law firms and corporate legal teams that need overflow support. We are building our litigation support contractor pool and are looking for skilled paralegals who want to earn strong hourly rates on a flexible, task-based schedule --- whether you are supplementing your current income or running a fully independent practice.

Litigation support is our highest-volume specialty. Demand is consistent year-round, with significant surges during active discovery periods and trial preparation. If you know your way around a document review platform and can step into an active matter with minimal ramp-up time, we want to talk.

What You Will Do

All work is performed under attorney supervision in accordance with applicable professional conduct rules.

  • Manage document review workflows for relevance, responsiveness, privilege, and confidentiality using platforms such as Relativity, Everlaw, DISCO, or Logikcull
  • Prepare and maintain privilege logs; manage clawback procedures and redaction workflows
  • Coordinate ESI collection, processing specifications, and production deliverables with e-discovery vendors
  • Organize and summarize deposition transcripts; prepare deposition and hearing exhibit binders
  • Assist with trial preparation including exhibit lists, witness files, trial binders, and presentation assembly (TrialDirector, OnCue, or similar)
  • Draft and proofread pleadings, motions, discovery requests and responses, subpoenas, and correspondence for attorney review
  • Maintain case chronologies, fact timelines, and deadline calendars
  • Conduct legal research on case law, statutes, and procedural rules using Westlaw or LexisNexis
  • Support mediation and settlement documentation including disbursement tracking and release coordination

What We Are Looking For

  • Minimum 2 years of litigation paralegal experience in a law firm or corporate legal department
  • Hands-on experience with at least one e-discovery platform (Relativity, Everlaw, DISCO, Logikcull, or Casepoint)
  • Familiarity with FRCP discovery requirements, ESI protocols, and federal and/or state court e-filing procedures
  • Experience preparing privilege logs and managing document production workflows
  • Proficiency with Westlaw or LexisNexis and the Microsoft Office Suite
  • ACEDS certification or Relativity certification is a plus --- not required
  • Must be authorized to work in the United States independently as a 1099 independent contractor
  • Education: Bachelor's degree + 2 years of litigation experience, or paralegal degree/certificate (ABA-approved preferred) + 3 years of litigation experience

Compensation and Schedule

  • Rate: $55--$70/hr, based on experience and matter complexity
  • Schedule: Task-based and flexible --- you set your availability and accept engagements that fit your schedule
  • Hours: Variable by engagement. Active discovery periods and pre-trial preparation can mean sustained full-time hours. Between engagements, volume varies.
  • Location: Fully remote. Work from anywhere in the United States.
  • Classification: 1099 Independent Contractor. You are responsible for your own taxes and benefits. This is not employment.

Why Overflow Paralegal Group

Overflow Paralegal Group was founded by a paralegal. Someone who has sat at that desk, managed those deadlines, and understood exactly what it feels like to be underutilized, underpaid, or locked into a role that leaves no room to breathe. Someone who knew the work inside and out and still felt like the ceiling was someone else's decision.

This company exists because that does not have to be the only option.

We are not a temp agency. We are not a job board. We built something different. A curated community of experienced, vetted legal professionals who support one another, maintain a high standard of work, and access opportunities that match what their expertise is actually worth.

We are looking for paralegals who are good at what they do and know it. People who want flexibility without sacrificing the quality of work they are known for. People who want to stay sharp, earn well, and have more control over how and when they work. People who value being part of a network that takes the work as seriously as they do.

When you join Overflow Paralegal Group you are not just added to a list. You are welcomed into a professional community that is invested in your success. You bring your expertise and your commitment to quality. We bring the clients, the infrastructure, the match, and the ongoing support to make sure every engagement reflects the standard both sides signed up for.

This is a network built by someone who lived this career, understood its gaps, and decided to build something that actually serves the people doing the work. If that sounds like where you belong, we would like to hear from you.

Here is what working with us looks like:

  • Your application gets read. Every application is reviewed personally. There is no automated screening, no ATS filtering, no resume blackhole. If you have the experience, we will see it.
  • The rates are real. $55--$70/hr reflects what experienced litigation paralegals are worth. We structure our margins to pay contractors competitively --- that is how we attract the quality our clients expect.
  • The work is substantive. Our clients are law firms with active caseloads who need paralegals who can step in and perform. You will not be doing data entry or answering phones.
  • You stay in control. You tell us your availability. You accept or decline engagements. There is no pressure to take work that does not fit your schedule or expertise. Whether you are supplementing a full-time role during busy seasons or running a fully independent practice, the model works around you.
  • This is a community, not just a platform. We are intentionally building something different --- a network of legal professionals who are serious about their craft, connected to each other, and supported beyond just the placement. That vision is still growing, and we want the people who join now to help shape it.

A background check is required prior to your first placement. You may provide your own report dated within the last 12 months, or we will conduct one and deduct the cost (approximately $35) from your first invoice.
