Project Description

Client (USG) is seeking consulting services to assist with completing a priority project to migrate IBM Cognos reports to Microsoft Power BI along with additional Power BI dashboard development work within our Enterprise Data Management and Analytics (EDMA) team.

Key Responsibilities

• Report Migration: Migrate approximately 400 production Cognos reports (Oracle database source) to Power BI, developing equivalent or enhanced dashboards.
• Compliance & Standards: Follow established EDMA development practices, organizational data governance policies, and meet ADA Title II compliance requirements.
• Development & Maintenance: Perform additional Power BI dashboard/report development and maintenance as assigned.
• Production Support: Provide support including data analysis, testing, issue resolution, and enhancements.
• Reporting: Create consolidated Power BI usage reports and metrics.
• Collaboration: Work with customers, business analysts, and team leads to analyze business problems and develop solutions.
• Architecture: Participate in Power BI workspace architecture, security architecture, versioning, and documentation processes.

Qualifications

• Expert problem-solving and debugging skills.
• Advanced experience with Oracle DBMS, PL/SQL, and SQL.
• Extensive experience with Microsoft Power BI (designing lists, crosstabs, graphs, scorecards, metrics, filters, prompts, etc.).
• Experience with IBM Cognos.
• Experience working with Microsoft Fabric.
• Knowledge of current and emerging data management and analytics technologies.
• Ability to handle multiple tasks and meet competing deadlines.
• Excellent oral and written communication skills.
• Knowledge of higher education data (student information systems) is preferred.
