The Role

The Lead Platform Engineer, Cloud Infrastructure plays a critical role in advancing the design, implementation, and evolution of secure, scalable, and automated infrastructure across Planet Fitness's cloud environments. As a senior member of the team, this individual will drive platform initiatives, contribute to strategic planning, and ensure alignment with business goals.

This role follows a hybrid schedule (M/T/W in office) and requires regular, in-person work at our Hampton, NH or Boston, MA office.

Responsibilities

  • Collaborate closely with the Director, IT Infrastructure & Cloud to execute the IT vision.
  • Drive platform engineering projects from planning through execution and delivery.
  • Build and maintain cloud infrastructure in AWS, with contributions to Azure and other platforms.
  • Own and evolve the internal developer platform service catalog.
  • Develop and maintain infrastructure-as-code and improve CI/CD pipelines.
  • Guide Kubernetes (EKS) operations including deployment strategies and scaling.
  • Define and track KPIs for platform performance, reliability, and developer productivity.
  • Ensure compliance with security guidelines and vulnerability remediation SLAs.
  • Document systems, workflows, and architecture for transparency and knowledge sharing.
  • Monitor and troubleshoot systems using tools such as Datadog and PagerDuty.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in computer information systems, Engineering, or related field, or equivalent work experience.
  • Minimum of 7 years experience in a Cloud, DevOps, or Platform Engineering role.
  • Proven experience leading technical projects and mentoring engineers.
  • Strong hands-on experience with AWS (preferred), Azure, and other cloud platforms.
  • Proficiency in Terraform and infrastructure-as-code practices.
  • Deep experience with Kubernetes (EKS preferred) and CI/CD tooling.
  • Familiarity with Git/GitHub, Jira, and Confluence.
  • Strong communication and presentation skills across all levels of the organization.
  • Entrepreneurial mindset with initiative, creativity, and strategic thinking.

Annual Base Salary Range: $155,000 - $170,000.
