Freelance Graphic Designer --- Tech & Education Video

Presentation Design | Motion-Ready Assets | Brand Systems

Immediate Need: A designer who can build clean, structured visual content for animated explainer videos and presentation-style educational content.

About the Work

Poley Creative is a video production studio making DevRel and educational content for tech companies like Cloudflare and others. We're looking for a freelance graphic designer with strong presentation and layout instincts --- someone who knows how to make complex information look clear and purposeful on screen.

This is design work first. You'll build slide-style layouts, text treatments, icon-based compositions, and structured visual systems that hand off cleanly to our animators in After Effects. You don't need to be an illustrator --- we need someone who can organize, structure, and design for motion, not someone who leads with hand-drawn or expressive artwork.

What the work looks like day-to-day:

Storyboard development from scripts and creative briefs --- translating written content into visual structure
Slide and presentation-style layout design: text hierarchy, data visualization, icon systems, screen recordings
Working within client brand guidelines across multiple tech clients simultaneously
Creating assets optimized for After Effects --- layer-aware, motion-ready, cleanly organized
Occasional internal document and presentation design
Async collaboration with producers and editors across multiple active projects

What we're looking for:

Portfolio showing structured, clean graphic design --- think presentation design, explainer video frames, or visual system work (not illustration portfolios)
Strong layout and typography instincts
Fluency in Figma and Illustrator; working knowledge of After Effects or willingness to learn the handoff process
Ability to work within established brand systems without drifting from them
Clear, reliable communicator --- especially around timelines and revision feedback
Available for ongoing work, not just a one-off project

We're a small, tight team based in Portland, OR. We produce educational video content --- explainers, interview series, course material --- for tech companies with complex stories to tell. Our designers work directly with producers and animators, so you'll have real creative input and direct communication, not a long approval chain.
