Job Summary

Potbelly Sandwich Shop is seeking a Manager, Procurement Equipment & Services to join their team. This is a 100% remote position within the US, excluding Alaska, California, and Hawaii. The role offers a competitive salary range of $90,000 - $100,000, plus annual bonus potential and a comprehensive benefits package.

Responsibilities

• Manage indirect spend categories including Waste, Pest Control, Utilities, Equipment, and Cross-Functional RFPs.
• Plan and execute new store opening packages.
• Partner with the supplier base to support aggressive growth.
• Ensure effective purchasing and distribution of products throughout the Potbelly system.
• Manage costs in assigned categories relative to budget and market conditions.
• Conduct risk management, including obsolete and discontinued inventory.
• Develop and implement forward purchase positions and hedging strategies for commodity products.
• Ensure contract guidelines and protocols are followed for all supplier agreements.
• Evaluate and implement strategic contracting, supplier development, and cost management objectives.
• Manage major sourcing projects and implement new programs through suppliers and distributors.
• Foster cross-functional relationships with senior management, distributors, and major suppliers.
• Prepare budgets and conduct ongoing financial analysis against company plans.
• Perform other duties as assigned.

Essential Physical Functions

• Ability to work 45-55 hours per week.
• Frequent reaching, feeling, bending, stooping, carrying, fine manipulation, and data entry.
• Problem-solving skills to identify and resolve field issues.
• Strong communication skills via telephone, email, and in-person.

Experience, Education, and Behaviors

• Must embody the Potbelly Advantage and Our Values.
• Bachelor's degree in business or a related field (e.g., economics).
• Proficiency in contract law and negotiation.
• Computer skills in spreadsheet analytical tools (e.g., Excel, Access).
• MBA with an emphasis in Purchasing or commodities management is ideal.
• Professional certification in purchasing or materials management is a plus.
• 3-5 years of experience in a purchasing organization with value chain analysis, cost reduction, and commodity management.
• Logistics management experience is a plus.
• Experience working with a foodservice chain serving at least 500 restaurants, with at least a 25% franchise base.
• Demonstrated ability to work in cross-functional teams.
• Excellent negotiation and relationship-building skills.
• Well-developed people management and change management skills.
