We're partnering with a nationally recognized engineering consulting firm seeking a Senior Mechanical Commissioning Agent to lead the testing, validation, optimization, and turnover of complex mechanical systems for some of the nation's most technically demanding projects.
From hyperscale data centers and healthcare campuses to pharmaceutical manufacturing and critical infrastructure, you'll work alongside owners, contractors, design engineers, and operations teams to ensure every system performs exactly as intended.

This is more than a field engineer role. You'll take ownership of commissioning efforts, lead multidisciplinary teams, mentor junior engineers, and become a trusted technical advisor for clients throughout the project lifecycle.

What You'll Do
- Lead mechanical commissioning activities from design review through final owner acceptance.
- Develop Commissioning Plans consistent with ASHRAE Guideline 0 and industry best practices.
- Review design documents, specifications, equipment submittals, and construction documents for commissioning readiness.
- Develop and execute functional performance testing for complex HVAC and mechanical systems.
- Coordinate startup, testing, balancing, and system validation activities.
- Troubleshoot mechanical systems and resolve commissioning issues.
- Develop operating procedures, technical documentation, and commissioning reports.
- Lead meetings with owners, contractors, vendors, and project teams.
- Mentor and oversee junior commissioning engineers.
- Coordinate multidisciplinary commissioning efforts across mechanical, electrical, and controls systems.
- Support construction administration and project closeout activities.

Who We're Looking For
- Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering or equivalent industry experience.
- 7 years of experience in MEP engineering or mechanical commissioning.
- Minimum of 6 years of hands-on field experience testing, validating, and troubleshooting large mechanical systems.
- Experience commissioning complex HVAC systems within mission critical, healthcare, pharmaceutical, industrial, commercial, or high-rise facilities.
- Strong understanding of chilled water systems, cooling plants, air handling systems, pumping systems, and HVAC controls.
- Experience leading commissioning efforts and coordinating multiple project stakeholders.
- Excellent technical writing, communication, and client-facing skills.
- Ability to travel to project sites as required.
Preferred Qualifications
- Professional Engineer (PE) license preferred.
- BCxA, ACG, ASHRAE, CxA, CCP, or PECI commissioning certifications.
- Experience with ASHRAE Guideline 0, Guideline 1, and Retro-Commissioning methodologies.
- Familiarity with Facility Grid or other commissioning software platforms.
- LEED commissioning experience.
- Experience leading commissioning teams and mentoring junior engineers.
