Job Summary
A premier educational services and data verification organization is seeking a remote-first Solutions Architect to champion a major application modernization initiative. In this permanent, direct-hire role, you will spearhead the re-engineering and re-platforming of mission-critical systems across multiple business units. You will design loosely coupled, resilient architectures leveraging cutting-edge cloud-native patterns and open-source tools. This position offers a competitive compensation structure along with a comprehensive benefits package that includes medical, dental, and vision insurance.

Responsibilities
- Design complex, end-to-end application architectures that define component interactions, data flows, scaling strategies, and granular failure handling.
- Formulate technology roadmaps, platform standards, and reference architectures for containerized, cloud-native deployments.
- Deliver deep, hands-on architectural designs utilizing AWS services, open-source technologies, and SaaS integrations.
- Partner cross-functionally with engineering teams, security infrastructure, and leadership to develop technical validations, prototypes, and proofs of concept.
- Champion security-by-design by implementing OAuth 2.0, SAML, OIDC, and RBAC to enforce least-privilege access across distributed environments.
- Create high-availability and disaster recovery architectures while validating systems against OWASP and accessibility compliance standards.
- Author comprehensive design artifacts, including logical, physical, and functional process flow diagrams, to align technical delivery with project constraints.
- Present architectural designs to the governance board for approval, actively leading the mitigation of delivery risks.
- Participate in maintenance window deployments and provide on-call or after-hours technical support when required.
Qualifications
Must-Haves
- Bachelor's degree in Computer Engineering, Computer Science, or a related field.
- 10 years of software development experience within mid-to-large scale enterprise organizations, accompanied by proven technical leadership.
- 5 years of experience defining enterprise-level current-state and future-state architectures, technology roadmaps, and integration models.
- Deep, hands-on technical depth with AWS cloud services spanning compute, integration, data, DevSecOps, and observability platforms.
- Extensive experience architecting microservices, event-driven platforms, API-led integrations, and cloud-native resilience patterns.
- Proven mastery of container orchestration design patterns utilizing Kubernetes, EKS, and ECS/Fargate.
- Strong capability to map out deep component interactions, logical/physical data flows, and system integration diagrams.
- Must reside in, and be authorized to work remotely from, one of the following approved jurisdictions: Colorado, Florida, Georgia, Illinois, Maryland, New Jersey, New York, North Carolina, Ohio, Pennsylvania, Tennessee, Texas, Virginia, West Virginia, or the District of Columbia.
- U.S. citizenship or lawful permanent authorization to work full-time in the United States.
- Availability to support after-hours maintenance windows and on-call rotations.
Nice-to-Haves
- Master's degree in a technical discipline.
- Active AWS Certified Solutions Architect credential (Associate or Professional level).
- 5 to 10 years of hands-on programming experience with Java, Spring Boot, Python, or Angular.
- Prior exposure to big data architectures, EMR, Data Lakes, Lakehouses, and various SQL/NoSQL databases.
