Job Summary
The Equipment Engineer III will join the national In-Building PMO team, interfacing with supply chain, submarket teams, enterprise sales, and senior leadership. You will be responsible for the engineering, procurement, and deployment of equipment within the National In-Building Organization, collaborating with RF, Construction, and Transport teams to deploy 4G and 5G technologies.

- Location: Rolling Meadows, Illinois (US-based Verizon Hub locations)
- Type: Contract
- Schedule: 8am - 5pm, Hybrid (2x per week in office)
- Salary: $46.55 - $56.55 per hour
Responsibilities
- Design and implement equipment for In-Building Venue projects (Corning, Ericsson, Samsung, Nokia).
- Collaborate with RF, Construction, and Transport to support 5G rollout and 4G LTE infrastructure.
- Document purchases, designs, and material releases using internal databases.
- Develop and maintain equipment delivery schedules and manage vendor deliverables.
- Manage monthly capital spending to align with forecasts and timelines.
- Utilize engineering tools like FUZE to complete milestones.
- Apply agile project management practices for end-to-end delivery.
- Drive operations to the Standard Operating Environment and document process flows.
- Lead project update meetings and provide executive-level reporting.
Qualifications & Desired Skills
- Experience: 5-7 years in telecommunications, data networking, or wireless.
- Technical Expertise: 5G/4G architecture, DAS provisioning, commissioning, integration, and troubleshooting.
- Tools: Confluence, JIRA, FUZE, Site Tracker, MS Office (Excel, Word, Visio, PowerPoint, Access).
- Certifications: IBwave Level 3, PMI/Project Management certification preferred.
- Knowledge: LAA, CBRS, 5G products, Verizon's In-building deployment program, and network architecture.
- Skills: Strong organizational, planning, and communication skills; ability to manage large-scale projects and vendor relationships.
- Education: Bachelor’s degree required; Master’s degree preferred.
Must-Have Skills
- Prior Verizon Wireless experience as an Equipment or Construction Engineer (highly preferred).
- In-depth experience with IB OEMs (Corning, Ericsson, Samsung, Nokia, Cisco, Fujitsu).
- Experience calculating power/cooling requirements and designing rack layouts.
- Ability to manage project resources, perform risk assessments, and mitigate plans.
- Valid driver's license.
