Job Description
The Texas Education Agency (TEA) is seeking an Instructor Training / Instructional Design Lead to support the AI & Emerging Technology workstream. This role involves designing and developing a comprehensive AI and automation literacy program for agency staff. The program will be hosted on an online platform and include web-based learning assets, instructor-led materials, facilitator supports, and reusable training content for long-term sustainment by TEA.
Key Responsibilities:
- Develop an AI and automation literacy scope and sequence.
- Create mandatory training modules covering responsible use, unacceptable use, TEA policy alignment, and Microsoft Copilot fundamentals.
- Develop optional advanced modules on topics such as prompting, automation concepts, Copilot agents, Power BI, and other approved tools.
- Produce learning objectives, instructional outlines, facilitator materials, and training aids.
- Recommend assessment and completion-tracking approaches.
- Create sustainment documentation for ongoing maintenance and evolution of the training program.
The primary goal is to equip TEA staff with a fundamental understanding of AI in their work and enable the responsible, consistent, and effective use of approved AI and automation tools to support agency functions. All work must adhere to TEA policy, governance, privacy, security, and Microsoft-first tooling expectations.
Candidate Skills and Qualifications
Minimum Requirements:
- 5 Years: Designing, developing, and implementing training curricula.
- 5 Years: Conducting technical or systems-related training (software, operational procedures, etc.).
- 5 Years: Developing web-based and instructor-led training materials, job aids, videos, or comparable learning assets.
- 3 Years: Building training in an online platform (web-based modules, e-learning, LMS-based).
- 3 Years: Translating technical information into clear training content for diverse audiences.
- 2 Years: Designing training related to policy, responsible use, privacy, security, or governance-aligned technology adoption.
- 2 Years: Supporting Microsoft-based productivity or cloud technology training environments.
Preferred Qualifications:
- 1 Year: Developing AI literacy, automation, digital enablement, or technical adoption training.
- 1 Year: Experience with Microsoft Copilot, Power Automate, Power BI, Power Query, or related approved Microsoft tools.
- 1 Year: Creating role-based learning pathways, office hours, or sustainment materials.
- 1 Year: Public-sector or education-agency experience.
- 1 Year: Designing training to build foundational understanding and practical confidence in using AI.
Other Special Requirements
- Demonstrated experience designing and developing technical training curricula for adult learners in an enterprise, government, or similarly complex organizational environment.
- Demonstrated experience building training in an online platform, including development of web-based courses, digital learning assets, and reusable instructional materials.
- Experience with learning management systems (LMS) and e-learning authoring tools is strongly preferred.
- Demonstrated ability to translate complex technical and policy concepts into clear, practical training for technical and non-technical audiences.
- Experience developing learning content related to AI literacy, automation, responsible use, governance, privacy, security, or policy-aligned technology adoption is strongly preferred.
- Experience with Microsoft-first productivity and automation tools, including Microsoft Copilot, Power Automate, and related approved tools within Power Platform, is strongly preferred.
