Company Description

Our client is an early-stage, high-growth startup modernizing immigration infrastructure through software. They are building a platform that streamlines and automates complex visa and legal workflows for global talent and companies.

With strong product-market fit, the company has reached ~$10M in revenue on minimal funding and is scaling rapidly. Their platform sits at the intersection of legal ops, automation, and AI---bringing much-needed efficiency to a traditionally manual and fragmented process.

With a small, high-performing team and ambitious growth plans, this is an opportunity to join a mission-driven company solving a critical global problem.

What You Will Do

  • Build and scale full-stack systems across backend infrastructure and frontend applications
  • Design and implement robust APIs, data models, and system architecture
  • Own workflow orchestration systems and improve task/event-driven pipelines
  • Develop and ship high-quality user-facing interfaces for customers and internal teams
  • Work directly with users (legal ops teams, customers) to understand problems and iterate quickly
  • Improve system performance, reliability, and scalability across the stack
  • Build automation and agentic workflows to streamline complex legal processes
  • Handle backend complexities such as access controls, permissions, and data integrity
  • Contribute to architectural decisions and long-term system design
  • Operate with high ownership in a fast-paced, product-driven environment

Ideal Candidate Background

  • 5--9 years of experience as a full-stack engineer (backend-leaning)
  • Strong experience building and shipping production systems end-to-end
  • Deep expertise in TypeScript, React, and backend systems (Python/Node)
  • Experience working at early-stage or high-growth startups
  • Strong understanding of API design, data modeling, and system architecture
  • Experience working closely with product and users in small teams
  • Proven ability to handle complex backend systems and workflows

Preferred

  • Experience building workflow orchestration or event-driven systems
  • Familiarity with Python frameworks (FastAPI, Django)
  • Experience with PostgreSQL and relational databases
  • Exposure to AI/LLM-powered systems or automation workflows
  • Experience in ops-heavy or process-driven products (legal, fintech, etc.)
  • Strong product sense and ability to balance UX with technical constraints

Compensation and Benefits

  • Base salary: $200,000 -- $250,000 (up to $300K for exceptional candidates)
  • Equity: 0.25% -- 1%
  • Visa sponsorship available (H1B transfers, TN; O-1 case-by-case)
  • High ownership role with direct impact on product and architecture
  • Small, elite engineering team with strong product exposure
  • Opportunity to work on meaningful, real-world problems

Why Join

This is a rare opportunity to join a high-growth startup tackling one of the most broken systems in the global workforce---immigration.

You'll work on real, high-impact problems involving automation, workflow orchestration, and AI, while owning systems end-to-end in a small, fast-moving team.

If you're a product-minded, backend-leaning engineer who thrives in high-ownership environments and wants to build meaningful systems from the ground up, this role offers both technical depth and real-world impact.
