About the Opportunity
The Scheduling Coordinator plays a critical role in managing referral workflows between healthcare providers, patients, and specialty clinics. This position ensures that referrals are processed accurately and promptly, directly impacting patient access to specialist care. The role involves detailed review and validation of medical records and referral documentation to prevent delays and maintain continuity of care.
Responsibilities
- Review electronic health records to collect and verify patient information for referrals
- Prepare comprehensive referral packets including demographic, insurance, and clinical information
- Submit referral documentation to external specialists via fax, phone, and secure digital platforms
- Identify appropriate specialty providers and ensure correct routing of referrals
- Monitor referral documentation quality, correcting issues before submission
- Collaborate with care coordination and follow-up teams to maintain referral continuity
- Support additional operational tasks through cross-training and administrative assistance
Requirements
- 1 to 2 years of experience in medical office administration, healthcare clerical support, or related fields
- Familiarity with Electronic Health Record (EHR) systems and healthcare documentation
- Strong data entry skills with high attention to accuracy
- Ability to manage multiple tasks and prioritize deadlines
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills in a healthcare context
- Comfortable working independently in a remote, fast-paced environment
Preferred
- Experience with referral processing, insurance verification, or specialty care coordination
- Knowledge of medical specialties such as cardiology, dermatology, ENT, or orthopedics
Pay Range and Compensation Package
- Competitive hourly compensation at $16 to $17 per hour
