Litigation Paralegal

Job Summary

A busy plaintiff-side civil litigation firm is seeking an experienced Litigation Paralegal to join its team. This is a contract role with the possibility of conversion for the right fit. The firm prefers candidates able to work onsite at least part of the time in its Natomas (Sacramento) office; however, fully remote candidates will be considered if they bring strong, directly relevant experience.

This role supports attorneys handling high-volume wildfire and mass tort litigation and requires someone who can step in with minimal training, manage active cases independently, and serve as a key support partner to the lead associate attorney.

Key Responsibilities

• Independently manage a high-volume caseload from intake through resolution
• Serve as the primary paralegal and right hand to the lead associate attorney
• Coordinate, draft, and manage discovery responses and document productions
• Handle Bates numbering, document exports, and discovery platforms, including CaseAnywhere
• Support trial preparation, including organizing exhibits, preparing trial binders, managing trial deadlines, and coordinating logistics as needed
• Track deadlines, maintain calendars, and ensure cases are progressing efficiently
• Draft and send client communications, legal correspondence, and formal letters with minimal supervision
• Communicate regularly with clients to provide updates and respond to inquiries
• Maintain well-organized electronic case files and documentation
• Collaborate closely with attorneys and support staff to ensure seamless case management

Requirements

Required Qualifications

• 3--5+ years of plaintiff-side civil litigation experience
• Mass tort or wildfire litigation strongly preferred
• Heavy personal injury experience acceptable if adaptable to mass tort work
• Demonstrated ability to support multiple attorneys in an active litigation environment
• Strong discovery experience, including drafting responses and managing productions
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills
• Confident, professional phone presence and strong client-facing abilities
• Ability to communicate clearly, calmly, and professionally with clients in high-stress situations
• Proficiency in Clio, Microsoft Word and Excel, and Google Workspace
• Strong attention to detail and ability to manage competing deadlines independently
• Able to step into ongoing cases and contribute with minimal onboarding
