Job Summary

This role offers a hybrid work arrangement, with three days in the office and two days remote. You will lead a group on challenging projects involving the investigation, troubleshooting, and resolution of electrical engineering issues for single and multi-discipline projects, often requiring extensive client interface and coordination.

Responsibilities

  • Lead group members to ensure successful completion of electrical engineering project deliverables, meeting technical, quality, financial, and project controls expectations.
  • Initiate and convey scope of work to group members.
  • Define project deliverables, including calculations, specifications, drawings, and design changes.
  • Review progress, track project scope/budget, and keep clients informed.
  • Conduct routine status meetings and submit progress reports.
  • Track and resolve open items and emergent project issues.
  • Coordinate the completion of project deliverables.
  • Lead detailed design phases for all electrical engineering aspects, coordinating with other disciplines.
  • Develop project scope, cost estimates, and schedules for complex electrical modifications at nuclear power plants.
  • Develop proposals for complex electrical modifications at nuclear power plants.
  • Provide technical oversight and supervision for electrical engineering activities, including:
    • Engineering design change packages for equipment installation, replacement, or upgrades.
    • Engineering calculations (AC/DC power studies, short circuit, cable ampacity, voltage drop, breaker coordination, motor starting, protective relay settings).
    • Equipment procurement specifications.
    • Bid review and evaluation for equipment vendors, including managing requests for information and vendor questions.
  • Interface with clients to validate scope and ensure satisfaction.
  • Mentor and guide the development of the engineering group.
  • Identify and follow up on client needs to create strategic opportunities.
  • Leverage client relationships to develop follow-on work.
  • Prepare and coordinate multi-discipline proposals.

AI & Automation

  • Lead teams in utilizing data, automation, and AI to improve workflows, reduce rework, and deliver cost-effective designs.
  • Direct automation and process-improvement initiatives, such as automating calculations, summarizing documents, or generating design documentation.
  • Guide the appropriate use of AI and agentic AI tools, ensuring results are verified.
  • Oversee engineers who program or script (e.g., Python, MATLAB, advanced Excel) for task automation, with review of outputs (valued, not required).
  • Additional learning in Computer Science, AI, Software Engineering, or related fields is valued for overseeing automation and AI-enabled workflows.

Qualifications

Essential skills and experience:

  • BSEE degree from an ABET-accredited engineering program.
  • 10+ years of experience in electrical engineering system design for nuclear power plants.
  • 3+ years of experience leading an engineering design group through all project design phases.
  • Experience in equipment and material selection, and preparing engineering design change packages, calculations, and specifications.
  • Experience serving as a firm/client liaison in a support or lead engineering role.
  • Experience with electrical system design, including low and medium voltage distribution systems (transformers, generators, motors, relays, etc.).
  • Effective written and verbal communication skills.
  • Proficiency with MS Office applications.
  • Detail-oriented approach.
  • Ability to be badged for unescorted access to a nuclear station.
  • PE Licensure is preferred.

Compensation Range

$116,620.00 - $179,890.00

Compensation ranges comply with all local and state regulations. The total compensation package includes base salary/hourly rate and benefits. Individuals may be eligible for a yearly discretionary bonus.
