Job Summary

This part-time, hybrid/remote Senior CAD Designer role involves working 20-30 hours per week, with the expectation of at least one office day per week. You will be part of a multi-discipline project team, responsible for developing accurate 2D drawing packages that adhere to client, code, and company standards, ensuring safe, constructible, and timely project delivery.

Responsibilities

  • Prepare design deliverables using CAD, including physical layouts, sections, civil grading and drainage plans, structural steel/concrete details, mechanical equipment layouts, piping GAs/isometrics/supports, and single line/wiring/schematic drawings.
  • Utilize software such as AutoCAD, MicroStation, Civil 3D, and Navisworks for drafting, checking, and revising designs, including bills of material and documentation.
  • Interpret and integrate information from engineers, vendor drawings, specifications, standards, and field data into coordinated design deliverables.
  • Identify and assist in resolving design issues, such as interferences, grading conflicts, and wiring inconsistencies, and support cross-discipline clash reviews.
  • Conduct self-checks of drawings, apply company and client standards, and ensure the completeness, accuracy, and constructability of deliverables.
  • Support and sometimes lead field activities, including walkdowns and data gathering, and update designs based on field conditions.
  • Collaborate with engineers and designers from other disciplines, communicate progress and issues, and help maintain project schedules.
  • Maintain and enhance practical knowledge of engineering and design principles, including 3D visualization and understanding of plant/substation design.

Qualifications

Education and Experience

  • Associate's degree in Computer Aided Design Technology OR a bachelor's degree in engineering technology OR equivalent technical experience.
  • Ten or more years of detailed CAD design experience in power projects.

Essential Skills

  • Proficiency in creating detailed drawings for power projects (physical layouts, civil, structural, mechanical, piping, electrical).
  • Proficiency with 3D plant layout modeling software.
  • Ability to interface effectively with engineering and design teams across disciplines.

Required CAD Software Skills

  • Autodesk AutoCAD
  • Autodesk Civil 3D
  • Bentley Microstation
  • Autodesk Navisworks

Additional Valued Skills

  • Experience in the power plant design process.

Compensation

  • Hourly Rate: $36.00 - $55.00
