Job Summary
This position offers the opportunity to collaborate with multi-disciplined engineering and design project teams, utilizing creativity and innovation to develop 3D models of civil grading and structures for civil drawing deliverables within CAD software.
Key Responsibilities:
- Work within the Civil Design team to develop civil layout drawings in a 3-D model.
- Engage in challenging assignments covering all phases of civil grading design, including roads, ditches, drainage ponds, finish surfacing plans, and permanent fencing plans.
- Investigate, troubleshoot, and resolve a wide range of civil design issues.
- Independently and collaboratively interpret and coordinate topographical data to plan and execute civil design deliverables.
- Participate in the coordination of detailed design phases for an integrated 2D/3D civil design model, which may include:
- Underground piping (stormwater drainage, oily water drainage, sanitary drainage, chemical drainage)
- Building entryways (ramps, stairways)
- Erosion control plans (erosion control fencing)
- Traffic control plans (traffic signs, roadway markers/lines)
- Waterway barge unloading
- Switchyard grading and drainage
- Provide support to other designers and project team members across all engineering and design business units to ensure complete and timely design.
- Mentor less experienced drafters and designers.
This role features a hybrid work arrangement, requiring three days per week in the office and offering two days of remote work flexibility.
Qualifications

Education and Experience:
- Associate's Degree in Computer Aided Design Technology preferred.
- CAD certificate required if no degree.
- Previous relevant experience will be considered.
Essential Skills:
- Ten or more years of detailed design experience in developing civil design drawings.
- Proficiency with design software tools for executing 3D plant layout models.
- Experience reviewing civil layout drawings for all phases of grading, regrading, and final grading.
- Ability to interface effectively with engineering and design teams from other disciplines.
- Must be bilingual in Spanish and English (Read, Write, and Speak).
Required CAD Software Skills:
- Autodesk AutoCAD
- Autodesk Civil 3D
Additional Valued Skills (Not Required):
- Bentley Microstation
- Autodesk Navisworks
- ArcGIS/Globalmapper
- Experience in the power plant design process
