Job Summary

Under the direction of the Mechanical Project Lead, this position offers the opportunity to collaborate with multi-disciplined engineering and design project teams in developing mechanical physical layout drawings within a 3-D model. You will engage in challenging assignments, including the design of mechanical/structural systems, and the investigation, troubleshooting, and resolution of a wide variety of mechanical and structural design issues.

Key Responsibilities

  • Utilize 3D modeling software tools to generate mechanical and structural related design drawings.
  • Serve as the Mechanical/Structural Responsible Designer, coordinating detailed design phases for all aspects of an integrated mechanical design model.
  • Coordinate and guide other designers and project team members to ensure a complete and timely design.
  • Independently plan and execute design deliverables, such as general arrangements, piping isometrics, piping composites, pipe support drawings, and equipment location drawings.
  • Potentially conduct field walkdowns and data gathering at client facilities.
  • Provide mentorship to less experienced drafters and designers.

This position operates on a hybrid work schedule, requiring 3 days per week in the office.

Qualifications

Essential Skills and Experience:

  • Associate's Degree in drafting, or a high school diploma with 4+ years of drafting coursework or equivalent technical experience.
  • 12+ years of detailed physical design experience in developing mechanical general arrangements, piping systems, and supports.
  • 5+ years of experience in the nuclear power industry.
  • Proficiency with design software tools for executing 3D plant layout models.
  • Experience reviewing mechanical equipment, including outlines and interface points, and coordinating/developing associated deliverables.
  • Ability to interface effectively with engineering and design teams of other disciplines in the power plant design process.

Valued but Not Required Experience:

  • Proficiency with MicroStation.

Compensation Range

$85,679 - $130,899

Sargent & Lundy provides compensation ranges in compliance with all local and state regulations. The total compensation package includes base salary/hourly rate and comprehensive benefits. Individuals may also be eligible for a yearly discretionary bonus.
