Own quality across Clinicus ---- web, React Native mobile, and Node APIs - by building the automated test suite that lets us ship a HIPAA-compliant care platform fast and safely. You set the testing bar and wire it into the release pipeline so quality is enforced, not hoped for.
Role summary
You'll own our test-automation strategy and framework end-to-end across an all-TypeScript stack, and embed it into CI/CD as release gates. You define how we test here --- the pyramid, the standards, the test-data approach --- and you build the suites (API, web E2E, mobile E2E) that give the team confidence to release continuously. You partner with developers to shift testing left, not bolt it on at the end.
What you'll do
- · Own and build the automated test suite across the stack: Playwright (web E2E), Detox (React Native mobile E2E), and Supertest (Node API).
- · Integrate testing into the release pipeline (GitHub Actions) as required gates --- API → E2E --- so no release ships without passing quality checks.
- · Establish a reliable test-data strategy for PostgreSQL (Testcontainers or seeded, resettable test DBs) --- never testing against prod RDS.
- · Define and enforce QA best practices: the test pyramid, stable selectors, flaky-test management, coverage targets, and reporting.
- · Drive quality metrics --- coverage, flakiness, escaped defects, pipeline pass rate --- and act on them.
- · Shift testing left: partner with developers on testability, review tests in PRs, and make quality a shared Definition of Done.
- · Own test reporting and triage --- traces, screenshots, dashboards --- so failures are fast to diagnose.
- · Mentor engineers on automated testing and raise the whole team's quality standard.
What we're looking for (Must-have)
- · 6 years in QA automation / SDET roles, with a proven track record owning test suites for production systems.
- · Strong JavaScript/TypeScript --- you write maintainable test code, not just click-through scripts.
- · Deep hands-on experience with Playwright (or very strong Cypress/Selenium with willingness to standardize on Playwright).
- · Solid API test automation (Supertest or similar).
- · Proven experience integrating automated tests into CI/CD release pipelines (GitHub Actions or equivalent) as gates.
- · Strong grasp of test strategy --- the pyramid, test-data management, and keeping E2E thin and reliable.
- · Experience with relational test data (PostgreSQL) and isolating tests from shared/prod data.
- · A track record of defining best practices and lifting a team's quality bar --- ownership, not ticket-taking.
Nice-to-have
- · React Native mobile test automation (Detox / Appium).
- · Healthcare / health-tech experience, especially anything touching PHI and HIPAA compliance.
- · Performance/load testing (k6, Artillery) and contract testing (Pact).
- · Testcontainers, accessibility testing, and building quality dashboards / metrics.
