Job description

FULLY REMOTE

ScolerTec Inc. has multiple openings for Performance Test Engineers with extensive experience in performance engineering, load testing, scalability testing, cloud-based systems, and application monitoring.

The ideal candidate will have a strong background designing, executing, and analyzing performance tests for enterprise web applications and distributed systems. This role will collaborate with developers, DevOps engineers, infrastructure teams, architects, and quality assurance teams to identify performance bottlenecks, validate system capacity, and ensure applications meet performance, reliability, and scalability objectives.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Develop and execute performance, load, stress, spike, scalability, and endurance tests.
  • Define performance-testing strategies, benchmarks, key performance indicators, and success criteria based on application SLAs, user-load models, and project requirements.
  • Design and maintain performance-test scripts using JMeter, LoadRunner, NeoLoad, K6, or similar tools.
  • Build, configure, and maintain performance-testing environments in AWS.
  • Test web applications, REST APIs, microservices, and distributed systems developed using ReactJS and Node.js.
  • Establish baseline performance measurements and conduct capacity-planning analysis for major application components.
  • Model realistic user volumes, transaction patterns, concurrency levels, data volumes, and workload distributions.
  • Analyze response times, throughput, error rates, resource utilization, latency, concurrency, and system stability.
  • Identify performance bottlenecks across application code, APIs, databases, containers, cloud infrastructure, and network layers.
  • Interpret system logs, application metrics, traces, and profiling data to determine root causes of performance issues.
  • Collaborate with developers, DevOps engineers, cloud engineers, database teams, and QA teams to tune application and infrastructure configurations.
  • Recommend optimization strategies based on test results and performance-monitoring data.
  • Integrate performance tests into CI/CD pipelines for repeatable and continuous performance validation.
  • Monitor application behavior using tools such as Datadog, AWS CloudWatch, Prometheus, Grafana, or ELK Stack.
  • Perform failover, recovery, resilience, and stress testing to validate system behavior under adverse conditions.
  • Validate system scalability and fault tolerance under expected and peak transaction volumes.
  • Support release-readiness reviews and verify that application releases meet performance and reliability requirements before deployment.
  • Prepare detailed performance-test plans, scripts, execution reports, dashboards, findings, and recommendations.
  • Document defects and performance risks with supporting metrics, evidence, business impact, and recommended remediation.
  • Participate in Agile ceremonies and provide performance insights during sprint planning, backlog refinement, sprint reviews, and retrospectives.
  • Support performance tuning and cloud cost optimization by evaluating resource consumption and application efficiency.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Engineering, or a related field.
  • 5 years of experience in software performance testing, performance engineering, or related quality-assurance roles.
  • 3 years of experience testing cloud-based, distributed, or microservices-based systems.
  • Experience with integration, regression, and system testing using automated testing tools for web-based applications.
  • Experience developing test plans, test cases, test procedures, test scripts, expected outcomes, and test-results reports.
  • Experience throughout the Quality Assurance lifecycle, including planning, design, development, execution, defect reporting, analysis, and documentation.
  • Strong understanding of Agile, DevOps, and DevSecOps delivery practices.
  • Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills with the ability to troubleshoot complex performance issues.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills for technical reporting and stakeholder presentations.
  • Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced, distributed, and highly collaborative environment.

Must Have:

  • 5 years of hands-on experience in software performance testing and engineering.
  • Strong experience designing and executing load, stress, spike, scalability, and endurance tests.
  • Proficiency with performance-testing tools such as JMeter, LoadRunner, NeoLoad, K6, or equivalent technologies.
  • Strong JavaScript skills for performance scripting, test development, and automation.
  • Experience defining performance benchmarks, KPIs, workload models, and acceptance criteria.
  • Strong knowledge of performance-engineering principles, including concurrency modeling, throughput, latency, resource utilization, scalability, and system tuning.
  • Experience testing applications deployed in AWS environments.
  • Hands-on experience with AWS services such as EC2, ECS, RDS, and CloudWatch.
  • Working knowledge of Node.js, REST APIs, microservices, and ReactJS applications.
  • Experience testing APIs and distributed application components.
  • Experience integrating performance tests into CI/CD pipelines.
  • Experience with CI/CD tools such as Jenkins, GitLab CI/CD, or GitHub Actions.
  • Ability to analyze application logs, system metrics, traces, and profiling information.
  • Experience identifying bottlenecks involving CPU, memory, network, database, API, container, and application resources.
  • Familiarity with monitoring and observability tools such as Datadog, CloudWatch, Prometheus, Grafana, or ELK Stack.
  • Experience testing containerized applications using Docker, Kubernetes, OpenShift, or similar technologies.
  • Understanding of network-performance testing and distributed-tracing concepts.
  • Experience preparing performance-test reports, dashboards, findings, and optimization recommendations.
  • Experience collaborating with development and infrastructure teams to validate fixes and retest performance improvements.
  • Experience supporting enterprise-scale or federal application-performance testing.

Preferred Skills:

  • Experience with AWS-hosted greenfield application-development initiatives.
