The Opportunity
Our outbound sales efforts are generating a high volume of qualified leads, exceeding the capacity of our closing team. We are seeking a sharp Sales Development Representative (SDR) to manage our inbound lead pipeline.
Your primary responsibility is to grow qualified pipeline. This role focuses on nurturing leads from their initial reply to a fully qualified and engaged prospect ready for a call with our VP of Sales. The emphasis is on skillful written communication and qualification, primarily via email, rather than simply booking calls or meeting activity metrics.
You will research prospects, analyze their marketing strategies, and craft personalized, AI-augmented emails (30-60 per day) that provide genuine insight and encourage further engagement or efficient disqualification.
AI Fluency Required
Daily use of AI tools like Claude, ChatGPT, and Perplexity is essential. You will leverage these tools for:
- Rapid prospect research (under 5 minutes)
- Auditing client sites, traffic, backlinks, and AI search visibility
- Identifying marketing performance gaps
- Crafting insightful and personalized email responses
- Enhancing prospect understanding through your communications

While prior knowledge of SEO, GEO, or AI search is not required, you will gain fluency through our structured 90-day onboarding program, backed by 20 years of agency expertise. We prioritize candidates with strong writing skills, curiosity, and speed.
Key Responsibilities
- Monitor and manage inbound replies in the Master Inbox.
- Conduct thorough prospect research using AI tools before responding.
- Engage in multi-turn email conversations to qualify, educate, and nurture SMB and mid-market marketing buyers.
- Efficiently disqualify prospects lacking the right budget, timing, or decision-making authority.
- Transition qualified prospects to the VP of Sales calendar with a comprehensive brief.
- Log all interactions in Attio for team context.
- Continuously iterate and improve communication strategies.

Background
1-3 years in B2B outreach, sales development, recruiting, customer success, or similar roles involving written communication and pipeline growth. Industry experience is flexible, provided written communication at scale was a key component.
Performance-Driven Culture

Bonus Qualifications
- Experience in digital marketing, SEO, paid media, web development, or agency-side roles.
- Familiarity with CRM and sales engagement tools such as Attio, Apollo, Clay, Smartlead, or Instantly.
- Experience building AI workflows or custom prompt sequences.
90-Day Onboarding Plan
- Weeks 1-2: Shadow VP of Sales, study case studies, review past conversations, learn Attio, and develop personal AI research workflows.
- Weeks 3-4: Draft email responses for VP review, focusing on mastering brand voice and buyer understanding.
- Weeks 5-8: Send live replies with daily feedback; pipeline generation begins counting towards metrics.
- Weeks 9-12: Assume full responsibility for the role, with commission eligibility and full team integration.
By day 90, you will possess advanced knowledge of modern SEO, GEO, and AI search.
Note: Applications are reviewed on a rolling basis. This role is expected to close within 14 days.
Performance Metrics
- Qualified pipeline generated (primary metric)
- Reply rate on inbound conversations
- Conversion rate from reply to qualified call
- Close rate of generated pipeline (downstream attribution)
Metrics NOT tracked: dials, raw activity volume, calls booked without proper qualification.
Compensation and Perks
- Base Salary: $50,000 - $60,000 (W2, based on experience)
- MQL Bonus: $100 per accepted MQL generated and handed off to sales.
- Client Conversion Bonus: 5% of the first month's contract value for MQLs who become paying clients.
- On-Target Earnings (OTE): $85,000 - $110,000 for solid performers, with higher potential for top performers.
- Uncapped Earnings: Directly tied to performance and qualification effectiveness.
- Career Advancement: Potential promotion to Account Executive within 12-18 months, offering uncapped commission on closed deals.

The Audition
This is a unique opportunity to be the critical SDR for SEO Brand during a period of significant inbound growth. We seek a highly skilled individual who values each reply, understands prospect needs, and effectively converts engagement into revenue.
Your audition involves:
- Research: Using AI tools (Claude, ChatGPT, or Perplexity), research an $8M ARR mid-sized e-commerce brand in the home goods sector that has replied to a cold email expressing openness to options despite having a current agency. Identify potential shortcomings of their existing agency and formulate a compelling angle.
- Reply: Write a response (under 100 words) that provides genuine value, earns the next reply, and pitches a conversation rather than a meeting.
- AI Process Explanation: Briefly explain (under 50 words) which AI tool you used, your prompt, and your rationale for selecting and refining the content.
