About the Role
smartdept. is seeking a Digital Product Designer for a client in the travel and hospitality sector. This is a remote, ongoing contract role with potential for extension, requiring approximately 4 years of experience.
The team works within a technical digital product framework, supporting around 40 accounts with projects ranging from full website builds to new AI product design. You will collaborate with a senior UI/UX team and utilize a structured design system for efficient engineering handoff.
Responsibilities
- Design for various viewports (mobile-first to desktop) using an existing Figma design system.
- Prepare and deliver developer-ready files, including technical specifications and annotations.
- Participate in UX consulting, such as heuristic evaluations and journey mapping.
- Ensure designs adhere to digital best practices, including accessibility, mobile scaling, and responsive layouts.
- Collaborate with the internal team to identify product issues and present data-driven solutions to clients.
- Handoff well-documented files to engineering teams.
Qualifications
Education & Experience
- Bachelor's degree in Design, HCI, or a related field, or equivalent professional experience.
- 4 years of experience in digital product design or UX/UI design.
Skills
- Proficiency in Figma, including design systems, components, and multi-viewport layouts.
- Experience with engineering handoff processes (technical specs, annotations, responsive design documentation).
- Strong understanding of digital best practices (mobile-first, accessibility, web fonts, email design).
- Analytical skills to interpret product data and communicate design rationale.
Nice-to-Have Skills
- Experience with interactive prototyping tools (e.g., Make, advanced Figma prototyping, Figma-to-code).
- Familiarity with current digital trends like AI product design and evolving design system standards.
- Background in travel, hospitality, or agency environments.
