About the Role

A fast-growing, fully remote accounting firm specializing in the US market is seeking a Tax Senior Manager. This is a high-impact leadership role where you will take ownership of the tax product for SME clients, acting as the signing preparer while building out the systems and workflows that will allow the firm to scale securely.

Reporting directly to the firm's Owner, you will oversee the full lifecycle of complex US tax returns, manage year-end adjustments, and ensure clean technical review loops. Beyond technical delivery, you will actively coach a global team of managers and preparers, delegate client work, and standardize operational procedures to drive team efficiency and client satisfaction.

Key Responsibilities

Prepare and review complex US tax returns, including 1040, 1120, 1065, 1120C, 990, and 1041.
Act as the signing preparer using your PTIN and maintain all internal and external compliance standards.
Process year-end financial adjustments, perform reconciliations, and execute bookkeeping backwork using Excel-based trial balances.
Assign work to junior managers and preparers, providing structured technical review notes and workflow guidance.
Design, document, and enforce standard operating procedures (SOPs) across the tax team using AI tools and recorded sessions.
Conduct direct client meetings via video to discuss tax returns, resolve technical queries, and gather required documentation.

Qualifications & Experience

Active PTIN (Preparer Tax Identification Number) with 5 years of US tax experience.
4 years of experience acting as a signing preparer for US tax returns.
3 years of experience leading, delegating to, and coaching a remote, global tax team.
Demonstrated experience handling direct client communications and technical tax advisory via phone or video.
Advanced proficiency in UltraTax, QuickBooks (Desktop and Online), and Xero.
Strong working knowledge of MS Excel for trial balances and financial workpapers.
