Job Summary
We are hiring a remote Instructional Designer to join a top fashion retail company based in San Francisco, CA. This freelance position will run for 5 months with potential to extend and will be fully remote (PST hours).
- Pay Rate: $43/HR
Responsibilities:
- Develop and produce stakeholder communications --- monthly newsletters, event announcements, milestone updates, go-live readiness sequences, and post-go-live reinforcement messaging. Every piece must be visually polished, audience-appropriate, and crafted to engage Finance users --- not just inform them.
- Draft communications on behalf of senior Finance and technology leadership that feel authentic and credible to the receiving audience. Manage review and sign-off cycles --- own the follow-up, chase reviewers, escalate delays.
- Manage the OCM content calendar across both programs, sequencing communications to prevent audience fatigue across shared Finance stakeholder populations.
- Build and administer surveys (MS Forms). Analyze results and provide polished summaries.
- Design, build, and maintain all training materials --- Foundational Learning decks, step-by-step process guides with annotated screenshots, quick reference guides (QRGs), FAQs, and instructor-led training content. Training is delivered via a Train-the-Trainer model --- you create everything super users and trainers need to deliver effective sessions.
- Create video tutorials and system walkthroughs using Microsoft Stream/Clipchamp --- from scripting through recording, editing, and publishing. Build a video library that serves as a durable self-service resource for Finance users.
- Design training curriculum around role-based scenarios (Power Users, End Users, Read-Only/Approvers) and ensure materials map clearly to what each audience actually does in the system.
- Build and maintain SharePoint project sites as the central hub for training content, communications archives, FAQs, video library, and project resources. Design site architecture, manage permissions, and keep content current and visually organized for Finance end users.
- Maintain all content repositories as living resources through design, build, testing, go-live, and hypercare phases. Ensure materials stay accurate as the system evolves.
Stakeholder Engagement & Facilitation
- Prepare and, when needed, facilitate Change Agent Network (CAN) forum sessions --- including presentation decks, action trackers, follow-up communications, and Show and Tell content. Must be comfortable leading meetings with senior Finance stakeholders and keeping sessions productive.
- Facilitate working sessions and stakeholder meetings when the Senior Change Manager is unavailable. Must be comfortable presenting to and engaging with director-level and above Finance leadership.
- Build and maintain adoption tracking dashboards and readiness assessment tools. Collect, synthesize, and present adoption metrics and stakeholder feedback in executive-ready formats.
- Support the Senior Change Manager by producing change documentation and managing resistance tracking tools.
Required Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in Communications, Instructional Design, Business, Marketing, Finance, or related field.
- 3 years of experience in instructional design, corporate communications, training content development, or change management content production in an enterprise environment.
- Direct experience creating communications or training content for Finance, accounting, or FP&A audiences. Must be familiar with Finance workflows, close cycles, and reporting rhythms well enough to produce credible, audience-appropriate content without heavy coaching.
- Strong instructional design skills --- able to translate complex system and process changes into clear, structured learning experiences. Comfortable designing curriculum, writing learning objectives, and building role-based training paths.
- Exceptional written communication skills with a strong eye for design and visual presentation. Able to produce polished, executive-ready content independently without design support. Portfolio or work samples required.
- Meticulous attention to detail --- in content accuracy, formatting consistency, data presentation, and brand compliance. Finance audiences notice errors; this role cannot afford them.
- Fluency in SharePoint (site design, content management, permissions), Microsoft Stream/Clipchamp (video scripting, recording, editing, publishing), and PowerPoint (executive-quality presentations, training decks, visual communications). These are daily-use production tools.
- Comfortable facilitating meetings with senior stakeholders --- including Finance directors and VPs. Able to drive agendas, manage sign-off processes, follow up on action items, and represent the OCM function credibly when the Senior Change Manager or OCM Director is not in the room.
If you meet the required qualifications and are interested in this role, please apply today.
