Scrum Master (Remote)

Responsibilities:

The Scrum Master will oversee the development and delivery process of the team, focusing on its integration with the ART and Operational Value Stream, including all aligned teams and developmental value streams. You will act as the connective tissue, establishing critical connectivity between product leadership and implementation. A Scrum Master will help team members and stakeholders understand their impact on the bigger picture of value development, establishing the right balance of centralized vs. decentralized decision-making. You will also train and coach your teams in Agile, ensuring synchronization on operationalizing the team as part of the ART and Solution.

Job Tasks:

  • Facilitate the successful delivery of business value within an agile framework.
  • Plan, lead, organize, and motivate cross-functional teams.
  • Facilitate and help coordinate Agile ceremonies (PI Planning, iteration planning, daily stand-ups, iteration reviews, demos, and retrospectives).
  • Partner with the PO and team to ensure ceremonies and ad hoc meetings are valuable, purposeful, efficient, and well-organized.
  • Identify barriers to achievement and address their removal with urgency.
  • Utilize various techniques to foster innovation and collaboration, ensuring all voices are heard.
  • Foster consensus-based decision-making within the team.
  • Collaborate with Product Owners to support short- and long-term release planning and maintain a healthy backlog.
  • Work with Product Owners to drive development of release and iteration roadmaps.
  • Maintain a healthy and safe team working environment.
  • Pursue results with the team, focusing on optimizing delivery.
  • Champion the continuous improvement mindset, viewing failures as opportunities for growth.
  • Use quantitative and qualitative evidence-based data to identify and address problems and evaluate solution efficacy.
  • Be curious and ask powerful questions to drive a team culture of continuous learning and relentless improvement.
  • Act as a change agent to drive the acceptance and adoption of agile using a structured approach.
  • Ensure visibility and effective interactions using ceremonies and tools that facilitate speedy responses to impediments.
  • Connect the team with the right stakeholders as needed to ensure the team has everything they need to plan and work effectively.
  • Understand and apply risk management discipline in decision-making and ensure the team's risk management.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's Degree or equivalent experience as a Scrum Master with a minimum of 5+ years of Agile methodology experience in a large enterprise environment.
  • Desired certifications: Certified Scrum Master, SAFe Scrum Master, SAFe PO/PM.
  • Working knowledge in Product Management, Test Driven Development, Continuous Integration, Continuous Testing, Continuous Delivery.
  • General knowledge of department/business lines, System operations, policies, procedures, and technologies.
  • Experience with Continuous Improvement methodologies (e.g., Six Sigma, Root Cause Analysis, Value Stream Mapping).
  • Exceptional organizational and communication skills, creativity, attention to detail (compliance), and negotiation skills to interpret results, develop communications, and recommend improvements.
  • Ability to present information credibly, confidently, and influentially in all settings.
  • Concise, direct, and purposeful communication style.
  • Demonstrable mastery in Teaching, Mentoring, Transformation, and Facilitation, with a commitment to supporting the growth and development of others.
    • Coaching: Actualizes potential in context directed at the team.
    • Facilitating: Builds consensus in context directed at the team.
    • Mentoring: Conveys wisdom out of context and usually one-on-one with Scrum Masters and others on the train.
