About The Role
The Brand Studio team at Google is seeking a talented Social Media Manager to lead and manage our social media initiatives. This role involves overseeing social media content creation, publishing, community engagement, and real-time social issues management. The ideal candidate will be responsible for ensuring the brand's voice is consistent across platforms, monitoring social conversations, and identifying opportunities for engagement and brand advocacy. This position is integral to shaping Google's reputation and building trust with diverse audiences. The role requires working Thursday through Monday, including weekends and evenings, to effectively monitor and respond to social media activity outside traditional hours. Based in Los Angeles, CA, or our Playa Vista campus, the role offers a hybrid work environment, blending remote and in-office work, with options across multiple locations including New York, Portland, and San Francisco.
Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree or equivalent practical experience.
- Minimum of 4 years of experience in consumer-facing marketing, with at least 3 years specializing in social media.
- Proven experience managing traditional social media channels and emerging platforms.
- Experience leading cross-functional or cross-team projects.
- Background in social issues management or real-time social engagement.
- Ability to work Thursday -- Monday, including weekends and evenings.
- Experience with social media content publishing, response, and reporting tools such as Sprinklr, YouTube Studio, and native platform tools.
- Strong analytical skills with experience in social listening analysis and report review/editing using third-party tools.
- Deep understanding of internet culture and social media norms.
- Excellent creative, organizational, and program management skills.
Responsibilities
- Manage and oversee social media processes outside regular business hours, ensuring continuous brand presence and engagement.
- Drive social listening efforts to monitor brand reputation, identify issues, and uncover opportunities for engagement, collaborating with social listening analysts.
- Publish social media content, perform quality assurance checks, and optimize content performance based on audience reactions and engagement metrics.
- Lead community engagement initiatives by managing content approvals, scheduling posts, and reviewing deliverables from agency partners and contractors.
- Stay informed on the latest social media trends, insights, and market analyses, providing regular updates and strategic recommendations.
- Coordinate with cross-functional teams to ensure alignment on social media campaigns and initiatives.
- Respond to social conversations in a timely manner, fostering positive community interactions and managing potential issues proactively.
