About The Role

We are seeking a highly skilled Software Engineer specializing in Database Integrations to join our team remotely from anywhere in the United States or in countries where ClickHouse has a presence. In this role, you will be instrumental in developing and maintaining high-throughput data integration solutions that facilitate real-time data replication from various databases, data lakes, and data warehouses into ClickHouse at petabyte scale. You will work on complex distributed systems challenges, including understanding database internals, managing schema evolution, ensuring data consistency, and optimizing performance under unpredictable loads. As part of the team, you will contribute to open-source projects, debug production issues, and help drive product innovation by collaborating closely with customers and internal teams. Your work will directly impact the efficiency and reliability of data pipelines used by some of the world's leading organizations.

Qualifications

  • 5+ years of industry experience building data-intensive software solutions
  • Proficiency in Go programming language or strong systems programming experience with a willingness to learn Go quickly
  • Experience deploying and operating cloud-native services on at least one major cloud platform (AWS, GCP, Azure)
  • Practical experience with Kubernetes and container orchestration
  • Strong problem-solving skills and expertise in production debugging and diagnostics
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills for documentation, technical discussions, and customer interactions
  • Experience with distributed systems, data replication technologies, or open-source contributions is a plus
  • Knowledge of data formats and protocols such as Avro, Parquet, Protobuf is advantageous
  • Familiarity with modern data processing frameworks like Kafka, Spark, or Flink is desirable

Responsibilities

  • Design and develop high-throughput integrations with various databases (Postgres, MySQL, MongoDB), data lakes (Iceberg, Delta Lake), and data warehouses (BigQuery, Snowflake)
  • Handle complex production scenarios, including unconventional database setups, schema changes, upgrades, failovers, and large transactions
  • Create solutions that enable users to maximize ClickHouse's performance and throughput capabilities
  • Ensure end-to-end reliability and robustness of data integration systems
  • Debug and resolve complex issues in production environments using runtime diagnostics and observability tools
  • Develop and enhance infrastructure and automation tools to improve system reliability and operational efficiency
  • Write comprehensive documentation for internal use and public reference
  • Participate in on-call rotations to support system stability
  • Engage with customers to understand their integration needs and identify gaps in current offerings
  • Collaborate cross-functionally with internal teams to optimize workflows and product features
  • Lead technical discussions and influence the product roadmap based on industry best practices and customer feedback
