Lead Integration Engineer - Underwriting Frameworks

Interview Process: 2 rounds (1 Technical and 1 Panel) Job Hours: 8am to 5pm Schedule: Hybrid (4 days onsite, 1 day WFH)

The Lead Integration Engineer will provide technical leadership for the end-to-end development and delivery of new insurance products and capabilities. This role will leverage DevOps and Agile methodologies to develop and lead various underwriting frameworks and their adoption across different lines of business, enabling new business opportunities and operational efficiencies. This role is also responsible for all upstream and downstream integrations and interfaces supporting business objectives.

This role requires hands-on development and technical leadership of globally distributed development teams to deliver platforms and services efficiently. Candidates must possess hands-on knowledge of building cloud-native applications using open-source technologies, a strong integration background, design thinking, seamless execution, strong relationship management, and effective communication skills. The Integration Lead will be accountable for planning, leading technical design, hands-on coding, and coordinating medium to large-scale, moderately complex projects, ensuring high-quality delivery within established timeframes and meeting business needs. The Integration Engineer will design and implement platforms for continuous delivery of features and capabilities aligned with business priorities.

Scope/Responsibilities

  • Application design, problem-solving, and accountability for building secure and scalable solutions.
  • Hands-on project involvement, developing modules, and reviewing code from other team members.
  • Mentoring Junior Engineers.
  • Leading end-to-end development, implementation, and integration of new insurance products and packages using Underwriting Frameworks and Client.io technology stack.
  • Partnering with Product Managers/Owners, BAs, Developers, and enterprise teams to define and deliver optimal application and solution architectures for current and future underwriting and policy administration platform needs.
  • Leading high-level design, code reviews, and implementation by development teams.
  • Regular communication according to the agreed-upon plan.
  • Preparing technical documentation and delivering formal presentations for sprint and system demos.
  • Leveraging an agile-based operating model across multiple Scrum teams.
  • Multitasking across different platform implementations.
  • Managing production workloads and serving as an SME for L3 issues.

Location: This position is primarily located in Whitehouse Station, NJ, with occasional travel to other Client office locations as needed.

Qualifications, Skills, Knowledge, and Experience:

  • Bachelor's or Master's Degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, or a related field.
  • 8-12 years of overall IT experience.
  • At least 3 years of cloud-native application development using Docker and Kubernetes.
  • Experience in Causality & Property lines platform/systems implementation is preferred.
  • Experience with technology stacks such as Java, Spring Boot, Camel, Camunda, IBM BAMOE/Drools, XML, CSS, XSLT, Elasticsearch, Logstash, Kibana (ELK), Prometheus, Grafana, etc.
  • Deep, hands-on knowledge of Microservices & API Management, Cloud Platforms (e.g., Microsoft Azure), and DevOps processes is required.
  • Good knowledge of Data & Analytics technologies (e.g., Data Lakes, Business Intelligence Tools, Predictive Models, 3rd Party Data).
  • Experience developing REST-based APIs using Open API specification and/or creating specifications with Swagger.
  • Experience configuring DevOps CI/CD pipelines.
  • Ability to perform complex troubleshooting of critical problem tickets, resolve defects in existing production software, and provide root-cause analysis.
  • Hands-on experience with code quality and code coverage tools/frameworks.
  • Understanding of securing web apps and APIs using OpenID/OAuth2.0 standards.
  • Experience in caching technologies and search is a plus.
  • Ability to motivate team members and effectively delegate responsibilities for timely delivery.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with a demonstrated ability to meet commitments under pressure.

Compensation: The hourly rate for this position is between $78.00 - $88.00. Factors influencing the starting pay may include geography, market, skills, education, experience, and other qualifications.
