Role Summary/Purpose

The VP, Direct to Consumer (D2C) Lending Analytics is a hands-on leader who provides strategic insights and thought leadership to influence decision-making and drive profitable growth for Synchrony-branded lending products. This role partners closely with the cross-functional leadership team to deliver actionable recommendations around channel strategy, customer journey, value proposition, segmentation and targeting, forecasting, portfolio diagnostics, and campaign design and measurement. The successful candidate will develop a decision management and optimization framework to drive customer engagement, portfolio performance, and profitability while working closely with the GM to promote sustainable growth.

Essential Responsibilities

  • Collaborate with the cross-functional leadership team to combine product, channel, and credit strategies into a unified roadmap to deliver a unique customer experience, grow receivables, and increase profitability.
  • Conduct analyses of product and channel performance to derive insights that influence critical decision-making and drive profitable outcomes.
  • Partner with GM, Marketing, Credit, and Finance to develop integrated solutions leveraging personalization, segmentation, and targeting.
  • Provide strategic thought leadership and influence SYF business leaders by identifying actionable profit-based opportunities through customer analysis and data-driven insights.
  • Own the full cycle of analyses, including ideation, data mining, identification of insights, and development and delivery of business recommendations to stakeholders.
  • Act as a trusted advisor to solve complex business problems and provide actionable recommendations based upon data-driven insights.
  • Establish a test-and-learn culture, providing guidance and leadership for the design, analysis, and measurement of initiatives, projects, and campaigns.
  • Implement and automate data visualization tools to measure and diagnose portfolio performance, allowing stakeholders to interact with KPIs to enable better forecasting and management of the portfolio.
  • Develop business case presentations and action plans, including targeting recommendations, test design, channel optimization, product and cross-sell opportunities, and cost/benefit analysis.
  • Lead and prioritize the workload of a team of on- and offshore analysts to ensure high-quality execution and delivery of business insights to drive profitable growth.
  • Measure in-wallet and category spend to determine the financial impact on rewards and loyalty costs and targeting strategies to drive cardholder engagement.
  • Own the analytics agenda and provide innovative leadership to evolve the analytics strategy based upon the state of the business and potential opportunities.
  • Ongoing assessment and measurement of product, channel, and targeting strategies.
  • Perform other duties and/or special projects as assigned.

Qualifications/Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree or, in lieu of a degree, GED/high school diploma and 11+ years of work experience in financial services, credit card, and/or payments industry analytics.
  • 7+ years of progressive work experience to include:
    • 4+ years of experience within financial services, credit card payments, digital, retail, or consulting analytics.
    • 3+ years using statistical analysis tools.
    • 2+ years leading large-scale analytics projects.
    • 2+ years of working with internal client stakeholders.
  • Perform other duties and/or special projects as assigned.

Desired Characteristics

  • Bachelor's degree in Mathematics, Statistics, Finance, or Quantitative Analysis.
  • Advanced degree or MBA preferred.
  • Experience with general-purpose or bankcard credit products.
  • Digital analytics experience.
  • Ability to articulate a clear vision, develop executable strategies, and deliver results.
  • Ability to influence senior corporate decision-makers.
  • 5+ years of project management skills and experience.
  • Demonstrated ability to manage remotely located teams in India and the US.
  • Strong understanding of targeting and segmentation.
  • Proven hands-on experience utilizing SAS or SQL data mining skills or open-source tools such as R and Python.
  • Advanced development of dashboards and data visualizations using tools such as Tableau or Birst.
  • Advanced skills using Excel and PowerPoint.
  • Strong analytical and creative skills.
  • Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal.
  • Proven ability to work independently and as a key member of a broader team.
  • Ability to innovate and find creative solutions to meeting business goals.

Grade/Level: 12

The salary range for this position is $135,000.00 - $230,000.00 USD Annual and is eligible for an annual bonus based on individual and company performance.

Actual compensation offered within the posted salary range will be based upon work experience, skill level, or knowledge.

Salaries are adjusted according to market in CA, NY Metro, and Seattle.

Our Way Of Working

We're proud to offer you flexibility. At Synchrony, our way of working allows you the option to work from home near one of our Hubs or come into one of our offices. You will be required to commute to your nearest Hub (either virtual or physical) for in-person engagement activities such as regular business or team meetings, training, and culture events.

  • Field Sales and some Commercial team roles may have varied location requirements based upon partner obligations or preferences.

Eligibility Requirements

  • You must be 18 years or older.
  • You must have a high school diploma or equivalent.
  • You must be willing to take a drug test, submit to a background investigation, and submit fingerprints as part of the onboarding process.
  • You must be able to satisfy the requirements of Section 19 of the Federal Deposit Insurance Act.
  • New hires (Level 4-7) must have 9 months of continuous service with the company before they are eligible to post on other roles. Once this new hire time in position requirement is met, the associate will have a minimum 6 months' time in position before they can post for future non-exempt roles. Employees, level 8 or greater, must have at least 18 months' time in position before they can post. All internal employees must consistently meet performance expectations and have approval from your manager to post (or the approval of your manager and HR if you don't meet the time in position or performance expectations).
