Sr. Systems and Azure Cloud Engineer

Full-Time (Direct Hire)

Location: Washington, DC 20005

Salary Range: $115,000.00 - $130,000.00 Annually

Work Schedule: Hybrid (Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday in-office)

System One IT is seeking a Senior Systems and Azure Cloud Engineer to lead the design, implementation, and maintenance of our IT infrastructure. This role is critical for ensuring the stability, security, and scalability of our mission-critical systems.

Key Requirements

  • Core Expertise: Microsoft and Azure native experience is essential.
  • Hands-on Skills: Active Directory, M365, Entra ID, and PowerShell.
  • Experience: 7+ years of progressive experience in IT infrastructure engineering.
  • Preferred: Experience supporting Federal clients.

Essential Functions

  • Design and maintain on-premises and cloud-based infrastructure (servers, storage, virtualization, networking).
  • Ensure the availability and security of services like Active Directory, DNS, DHCP, VPN, and firewalls.
  • Manage Azure cloud environments, including virtual machines, storage, and identity services.
  • Execute system upgrades and migrations with minimal business disruption.
  • Provide advanced troubleshooting, root cause analysis, and proactive maintenance.
  • Collaborate with cybersecurity teams to ensure compliance and robust security standards.
  • Develop and maintain technical documentation and operational procedures.

Background, Skills, and Abilities

  • Bachelor’s degree in IT, Computer Science, or equivalent experience/certifications.
  • Proficiency in Windows Server, Linux, VMware vSphere, Hyper-V, and SAN/NAS storage.
  • Strong networking knowledge (TCP/IP, VLANs, VPNs, load balancing).
  • Experience with Intune, Group Policy, Exchange Online, MFA, and SSL/TLS certificate management.
  • Scripting proficiency in PowerShell; experience with RMM tools (e.g., NinjaOne, SolarWinds, Datadog).
  • Familiarity with NIST security frameworks and system hardening.

Preferred Certifications

  • ITIL Foundation
  • Microsoft Certified: Azure Administrator Associate / Solutions Architect
  • VMware Certified Professional (VCP)
  • AWS Certified Solutions Architect
  • CompTIA Security+
