Substation Electrical Engineer

Location: Denver, Colorado Type: 12 months Contract Compensation: $70.00 - $72.00 Contractor Work Model: Hybrid -- onsite and remote Hours: 40.0

Responsibilities

  • Perform day-to-day maintenance and equipment replacement at substations, including leading like-for-like replacements and upgrades of substation equipment such as breakers, switches, transformers, relays, bushings, and arresters.
  • Conduct troubleshooting, develop and adjust designs as needed (brownfield projects, no greenfield design), and initiate related projects.
  • Order materials, coordinate with construction teams to execute projects, and manage schedules to ensure timely completion.
  • Deliver scoped work packages, materials requisitions, field coordination, and complete replacement/maintenance activities.
  • Perform scope definition, site visits, stakeholder communication, and project follow-ups.

Requirements

  • Electrical Engineering degree (required).
  • Knowledge of substation equipment and troubleshooting experience or strong willingness to work in the field.
  • Familiarity with brownfield replacement/maintenance workflows.
  • Stakeholder coordination and project initiation, materials ordering experience.
  • SAP, ProjectWise, and basic PLC/logic programming knowledge are a plus (not required).
  • 5+ years of relevant experience preferred.
  • Colorado PE license preferred.
  • Substation Engineering design experience.
  • On-site work at Denver location, with the possibility of hybrid work model.
