Jr Fact-Checker - Professional Website (Remote)
Location: Remote Pay: $25/hr (Weekly pay) Schedule: Part-time, 20 hours per week with flexible hours. Contract: 12-month contract with potential for extension.
Important Note: Must have prior experience in fact-checking for a professional website.

As a Fact Checker on the SEO Strategic Content team, you will be crucial in upholding content integrity by ensuring accuracy, adherence to brand guidelines, and compliance with legal standards. This role requires meticulous attention to detail, encompassing both granular checks (e.g., spelling, numerical accuracy) and big-picture analysis (e.g., thesis validity, internal consistency). You will also be responsible for developing a comprehensive library of sources.
Responsibilities
- Verify information accuracy across diverse subject areas.
- Develop and maintain a sourcing library for various topics.
- Advise the Strategic Content team on legal compliance.
- Communicate effectively with editors, writers, and producers to ensure accurate edits.
- Conduct thorough research, organize claims, and support findings.
- Upload fact-checked content into the CMS, ensuring proper formatting.
Basic Qualifications
- 1-8 years of experience as a Fact-Checker, specifically for professional websites or journalism.
- Proficiency with at least one Content Management System (CMS) such as Contentful.
- Experience with project management tools like Airtable or Asana.
- Familiarity with the Chicago Manual of Style.
- Demonstrated resourcefulness in research, going beyond basic searches.
- Proven process for ensuring accurate, error-free content aligned with legal and brand guidelines.
- Strong understanding of fact-checking best practices.
- Experience researching and verifying details, including names, numbers, and factual consistency across content.
- Proficiency in online research resources for data verification, salary checks, and statistical backing.
- Experience with journalism best practices.
- Bonus: Experience working for a large, global company.
- Commitment to working 20 hours per week, with flexibility for a primary full-time role. Availability for daily check-ins and meeting deadlines is essential.
- Experience in a remote role, demonstrating self-management and time management skills in a high-volume setting.
- Experience communicating tactfully with content creators to ensure necessary edits are implemented correctly.
- Ability to meet tight deadlines and perform under pressure in a part-time capacity.
