We are seeking a motivated and detail-oriented Entry Level Accounting Assistant to join our dynamic finance team. As an integral part of our accounting department, you will assist with data entry, account reconciliations, and financial recordkeeping, gaining valuable experience in corporate and governmental accounting practices. Duties
- Perform data entry for accounts payable, accounts receivable, and general ledger transactions using accounting software such as QuickBooks, Xero, or Sage
- Assist with bank statement and account reconciliations to ensure accuracy of financial records
- Support the preparation of journal entries and maintain detailed documentation for audit purposes
- Help process payroll using systems like ADP, Paychex, or UltiPro while ensuring compliance with payroll management standards
- Contribute to month-end closing activities including balance sheet reconciliation and account analysis
- Support compliance with GAAP (Generally Accepted Accounting Principles), SOX (Sarbanes-Oxley Act), and other regulatory requirements
- Aid in the review of financial concepts such as debits & credits, double-entry bookkeeping, and general ledger accounting
Requirements
- Strong understanding of basic financial concepts including accounts payable/receivable, journal entries, and balance sheet reconciliation
- Experience with accounting software such as QuickBooks, Xero, Sage, or similar platforms is preferred
- Familiarity with payroll systems like ADP or Paychex is a plus
- Knowledge of GAAP and governmental accounting standards is advantageous
- Excellent data entry skills with high accuracy (10 key typing proficiency)
- Ability to analyze financial data and perform account reconciliation tasks effectively
- Strong math skills combined with attention to detail and organizational abilities
- Prior internship or work experience in public accounting or financial services is beneficial but not required
