Technical Project Manager (Junior role, below 10 years)
Location: 100% Remote (Minneapolis, MN) (Remote with occasional travel -- Locals Only)
Job Type: Contract-to-Hire
Duration: 12+ Months
Job Description
We are seeking a Technical Project Manager with 5--8 years of experience to join our team. This role is ideal for a mid-level PM (not a Senior PM) who can effectively manage technical projects, coordinate cross-functional teams, and drive delivery in a fast-paced environment.
The position is primarily remote, with occasional travel to Minneapolis, MN for key meetings, stakeholder alignment, or project milestones.
Key Responsibilities
- Manage end-to-end delivery of technical projects, ensuring timelines, scope, and quality standards are met
- Collaborate with engineering, product, and business teams to define project goals and execution plans
- Translate business requirements into technical deliverables and actionable tasks
- Track and manage project schedules, risks, dependencies, and budgets
- Facilitate Agile ceremonies (daily stand-ups, sprint planning, retrospectives) or work within Waterfall/Hybrid models as needed
- Communicate project status, risks, and updates to stakeholders and leadership
- Ensure proper documentation, reporting, and governance throughout the project lifecycle
- Coordinate with external vendors or partners when applicable
Required Qualifications
- 5--8 years of experience in project management, with a focus on technical or IT projects
- Strong understanding of software development lifecycle (SDLC)
- Experience with Agile, Scrum, or Waterfall methodologies
- Ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously
- Strong communication and stakeholder management skills
- Experience with tools such as JIRA, Confluence, MS Project, or similar
- Basic technical understanding (APIs, integrations, cloud environments, etc.)
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience working in mid-sized to large enterprise environments
- Exposure to cloud platforms (AWS, Azure, or Google Cloud Platform)
- PMP, Scrum Master, or similar certification (nice to have, not required)
Work Environment & Travel
- Remote-first role
- Occasional travel to Minneapolis, MN for important meetings or project milestones
