Job description

Description

An engineering role supporting a datacenter deployment planning platform used by infrastructure deployment teams. This is a hands-on network engineering position focused on design implementation and infrastructure modeling rather than software development. The contractor will interpret formal datacenter reference architecture designs and translate them into structured platform models, enabling deployment engineers to plan and execute builds against a consistent source of truth.

This role is well suited for a network engineer with experience in structured datacenter design, large-scale infrastructure modeling, and source-of-truth platforms such as NetBox or Nautobot. The primary focus is design modeling and data integrity, not application development; however, light scripting experience is highly desirable for creating export templates, validation utilities, and workflow automation.

Responsibilities

  • Review formal Ethernet fabric architecture documents with VRF, BGP underlay/overlay design, EVPN-VXLAN configuration patterns, VLAN/VNI/ASN allocation schemes, subnet breakout rules, and per-role connectivity rules and interpret the design intent.
  • Engage with internal architecture authors and subject-matter experts to clarify ambiguities and capture design assumptions.
  • Implement reference architectures as structured models inside the deployment-planning platform, such as rack templates, IP allocation rules, cabling topology rules, device grouping rules, and configuration export templates.
  • Document each architecture model, design assumptions, modeling decisions, known limitations, and a guide for downstream engineers to instantiate the architecture for new deployments.
  • Validate deployment workflows and process documentation against modeled network builds to ensure architectural accuracy, operational consistency, and alignment between documented procedures and platform generated outputs.
