Job description

Top Skills

  • VESTA NXT Call Handling Platform
  • Strong SIP Engineering experience (SIP ladders, response codes, vendor-specific implementations)
  • AudioCodes configuration and management (Base level cert obtained or in progress)
  • Network engineering experience (TCP/IP, routing/switching, DNS, firewalls, BGP, QoS)
  • Experience in both Microsoft and Linux environments

Role Overview

We are looking for a SIP Voice Engineer who bridges traditional network engineering with deep session-control expertise. You will own the network and SIP design for Motorola VESTA NXT deployments, collaborate directly with SIP vendors to build integration designs, configure AudioCodes SBCs, and lead complex, multi-team troubleshooting.

You will start by shadowing the principal engineer to learn the standard AudioCodes-to-VESTA setup, internal tooling, and remote access environment. Within the first few months, you will begin picking up escalations and custom SBC configurations independently. By month three, the expectation is that you are running the full cycle—from discovery call through configuration and testing—without needing to pull in multiple people.

Over time, the goal is for this person to step into the initial customer kickoff calls and own the SBC/network design upfront.

Key Responsibilities

  • SBC Design & Configuration: Deploy, configure, and maintain AudioCodes Session Border Controllers (primarily M800C hardware) across diverse customer environments.
  • Vendor Integration: Partner directly with external SIP vendors and customer PBX teams to create, validate, and execute integration designs.
  • Advanced Troubleshooting: Serve as the escalation point for complex deployments. Analyze packet captures, dissect SIP ladder diagrams, resolve codec negotiation mismatches, and lead cross-functional troubleshooting.
  • Network Design for Voice: Build network templates for SBC deployments, including firewall traversal, BGP routing, QoS/CoS configurations, and routing between local and cloud SBCs.
  • Standards & Governance: Contribute to standards and governance documentation to guide field teams and expand the decision-tree framework for customer onboarding.

Additional Skills & Qualifications

Must Haves

  • Strong SIP engineering experience (SIP ladders, response codes, vendor-specific differences)
  • Hands-on AudioCodes SBC experience (Base level cert)
  • Network engineering background (TCP/IP, routing/switching, DNS, firewalls, BGP, and QoS for voice)
  • Proficient with Wireshark (packet captures, call failures, one-way audio, registration issues, codec mismatches)
  • Experience working in both Microsoft and Linux environments
  • Ability to lead troubleshooting across multiple teams and communicate clearly with stakeholders

Best (Strong Nice)

  • SD-WAN experience, particularly around voice traffic optimization
  • Fortinet firewalls

Nice to Haves

  • Cisco CUCM experience
  • Avaya or Mitel PBX
  • Experience in 911 or NG911 (location services, public safety call handling)
  • Familiarity with Docker, Kubernetes, and AWS
