About the Role

This Sr. Automation Engineer opportunity supports a large-scale modernization initiative, focused on refactoring legacy systems and preparing for a major database migration. You'll play a critical role in ensuring API reliability, data integrity, and overall system quality in a highly automated, agile testing environment.
This role is ideal for a hands-on automation engineer who thrives in backend/API testing, enjoys solving complex problems, and brings strong Java coding expertise.
Responsibilities
- Design, implement, and maintain robust REST API automation test suites
- Analyze API documentation to create comprehensive test scenarios, including positive, negative, boundary, and edge cases
- Perform backend data validation using SQL across relational databases
- Collaborate closely with development, QA, and DevOps teams in an agile environment
- Support automated testing efforts within cloud-based environments
- Troubleshoot test failures and isolate root causes efficiently
Tools & Environment
- Languages: Java
- API Automation: Rest Assured, Postman, SoapUI
- Frameworks: TestNG, JUnit
- Databases: MySQL, PostgreSQL, Oracle
- Cloud Platforms: AWS, Azure, or Google Cloud
- Methodology: Agile / Automated Testing Environment
Competencies
- Strong expertise in REST API automation (highest priority)
- Advanced API test design and strategy
- Solid SQL querying and backend validation
- Experience automating tests in cloud environments
- Excellent analytical, troubleshooting, and communication skills
Job Type & Location
This is a Contract position based out of Bentonville, AR.
Pay and Benefits
The pay range for this position is $50.00 - $56.00/hr. Eligibility requirements apply to some benefits and may depend on your job classification and length of employment.
