UX Researcher

We are hiring an experienced UX Researcher to join a design research team supporting mobile experiences tied to connected systems (e.g., EV charging, device ecosystems). This role is ideal for a researcher who thrives in fast-paced environments, partners closely with design, and drives research strategy—not just execution.

Key Responsibilities

• Lead end-to-end UX research across discovery and evaluative phases.
• Design and conduct: Generative research to uncover user needs and usability studies focused on flows, tasks, and concepts.
• Partner closely with product designers to inform UX decisions and execution.
• Act as a strategic advisor, recommending: When research is needed, what methods to use, and when alternative approaches (heuristics, audits, competitive analysis) are more appropriate.
• Translate findings into clear, actionable insights that influence design outcomes.
• Contribute to and execute against an existing research roadmap.
• Identify gaps and propose new research opportunities.

Required Qualifications

• 5+ years of experience.
• Strong experience with qualitative research methods.
• Proven ability to: Conduct both generative and evaluative research and influence UX and design decisions.
• Experience working embedded with design teams (not just product teams).
• Strong communication and storytelling skills.
• Ability to work independently with minimal oversight.

Job Type & Location

This is a contract position based out of Detroit, MI. This is a fully remote position.

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $60.00 - $80.00/hr.
