Required Skills to be Considered

  1. 3+ years of VMWare Architect experience, focused in design, architecting, engineering, troubleshooting, and implementation.
  2. 10+ years with VMWare across enterprise environments.
  3. VMWare Cloud Foundation (VCF 9). Must have hands-on experience with VCF 9 design, engineering, and troubleshooting in Brownfield and Greenfield environments to be considered.
    • Hands-on VCF deployment experience is required (production preferred; lab/POC acceptable only if the candidate can confidently lead VCF 9 customer discussions).
    • Must be able to guide customers through VCF implementation, upgrades, and day 2 operations.
  4. Experience working for a Technology Consulting Company implementing VMWare & VCF solutions for end customers - 1+ years. Must be comfortable owning and leading customer-facing technical conversations.

Nice to Have Skills (Not Required)

  • NSX-T Experience (3 years): Ability to discuss implementation in a production environment, product components, vDefend, BGP, Network Insight (VRNI), and general networking knowledge. Automation of NSX experience is a plus.
  • Automation Experience: VMWare VCF Aria Automation OR Infra-as-Code (Terraform or Ansible) with a good understanding of scripting and development (PowerShell, Javascript, PowerCLI).
  • VKS/Tanzu: Design/engineering in vSphere/VCF environments and migration of workloads within the VKS architecture.

Description

The Sr. Solutions Architect - SDDC will assist clients with post-sales implementation of data center infrastructure automation initiatives (Software-Defined Data Center) as clients move towards modern data center solutions and private clouds. This delivery role involves low-level design and hands-on deployment of enterprise infrastructure and platforms, providing upgrade and migration services, and ensuring seamless integration with existing systems.

Role Description

  • Performs low-level design and implementation work, including architecture analysis and design, system migration, and systems engineering.
  • Responsible for the design and implementation of:
    • VMware VCF (VMware Cloud Foundation), both Brownfield and Greenfield.
    • VMware VCF (Aria) Automation.
    • Automation and IaC technologies such as SaltStack, Terraform, or Ansible.
    • Proficiency in PowerShell, PowerCLI, and Javascript.
    • Server virtualization & operations.
    • vSAN, Storage, & SAN.
    • Disaster recovery.
    • VMware NSX and general virtual networking.
    • Backup & ransomware resiliency solutions.
    • Hyperconverged solutions.
  • Serves as the technical lead and subject matter expert on projects and workshops, overseeing the work of others and being accountable for project outcomes.
  • Collaborates with sales and presales teams in identifying and closing professional services opportunities through customer discovery and scoping meetings.
  • Performs configuration and upgrade services within customer environments.
  • Participates in pre-sales conversations, design, and planning of services engagements.
  • Provides technical leadership and mentorship in a pre-sales and post-sales capacity to support successful understanding, evaluation, and adoption of offerings.
  • Demonstrates long-term thinking regarding the Infrastructure practice and customer engagements.

  • Proficiency in overseeing and directing projects to completion, ensuring goals are met, resources are utilized efficiently, and stakeholders are satisfied.
  • Ability to systematically identify, document, and manage the technical needs and specifications of a project by engaging with stakeholders and analyzing business objectives to ensure successful project outcomes.
  • Ability to define, design, build, and maintain robust systems and solutions by leveraging systems and infrastructure effectively.
  • Ability to write, debug, and maintain code in various scripting and programming languages to automate tasks and develop software solutions.
  • Ability to understand and manage various infrastructure components (firewalls, load balancers, hypervisors, storage, monitoring, security) and use orchestration tools to develop comprehensive technical solutions.
  • Ability to develop detailed Statements of Work (SOWs) and drive revenue growth through professional services engagements.
  • Extensive experience working on large-scale IT projects related to design, deployment, and configuration.
  • Ability to define, design, build, and maintain systems and solutions leveraging systems and infrastructure.
  • Consultative approach to deploying enterprise architecture.

Job Type & Location

This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Austin, TX. This is a fully remote position.

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $100.00 - $100.00/hr. Eligibility requirements apply to some benefits and may depend on your job classification and length of employment.
