Our customer is seeking a tenured and capable enterprise Kafka Admin to help support the ongoing platform improvement of their Kafka environment. This will be a long-term contract with the possibility of FTE conversion with strong performance.
Requirements
- 5+ years in platform engineering and management involving Middleware technologies with a focus on Confluent Cloud and Kafka
- 3+ years of experience with Installation, configuration and administration of Confluent Cloud or Kafka
- 3+ years of experience with UNIX and LINUX operating systems, storage environments, file systems, and network protocols.
- 3+ years of strong understanding of distributed systems using messaging platform
- 2+ years of creating great documentation that enables other team members to learn and execute platform engineering and management activities.
Technical Skills
- 3+ years' experience in production support for Confluent or Kafka platform including troubleshooting and fixing production defects.
- 3+ years applying DevSecOps and Infrastructure as Code patterns to build automation. Able and ready to learn and support other Middleware technologies in support of Platform Engineering roadmap with DevSecOps, infrastructure-as-code, software defined engineering patterns, and use of GitHub or comparable code repository.
- 3+ years of experience with Ansible, Terraform, Puppet and other Infra automation technologies
Soft Skills
- Strong written and verbal communication skills. Should be able to create and present documentation.
- Understands change management importance/procedures.
- Embrace and demonstrate automation first approach
- Should be a team player and ready to spread knowledge within the team.
Preferences
- Bachelor's degree
- Must be able to use Linux commands and tools to troubleshoot issues, parse and evaluate log files.
- Experience with application profiling using tools such as Dynatrace, VisualVM or Jprofiler.
- Experience with Terraform.
- Experience with performance tuning for JVMs, web containers, DB connection pools, etc.
- Possess a thorough understanding of modern work practices such as DevSecOps, Continuous Integration (CI), Continuous Delivery (CD), Agile project Delivery, Release Engineering.
Job Type & Location
This is a fully remote, long-term contract position based out of Fort Mill, SC.
Pay and Benefits
The pay range for this position is $65.00 - $80.00/hr.
