The Opportunity
This role is a leadership position responsible for managing a Software Development initiative and its team. You will be responsible for understanding and participating in all aspects of the Software Development Life Cycle. This person will function as the technical lead on software development projects supporting internal development as well as externally facing product development. When assisting with development efforts, this person can successfully implement as a Lead Developer, perform code and design reviews, mentor other developers, manage release cycles, and write code.
Key Accountabilities and Priorities
- Lead any software development lifecycle activity: estimating and planning, designing, coding, documenting, and testing of software applications.
- May take on some architecture responsibilities.
- Ensure conformance of design and implementation with the intended architecture.
- Provide technical mentorship to project team members and be responsible for direct supervision of subordinate staff on the team.
- Act as hierarchical manager for a group of 3 or more developers, including career mentorship and formal performance reviews.
- Work closely with the Project Manager who delivers the project and the architect who provides solution and engineering practices guidance.
- Work with Business Analysts and/or End Users to define, document, and review system functional specifications as well as software and hardware requirements.
- Typically reports to a Practice Manager, supporting the practice by administering policies and participating in the recruitment process.
- May provide pre-sales support, working closely with an architect.
- Perform any other related tasks whenever necessary.
Required Education and Experience
- 9+ years of experience in Object Oriented analysis, design, coding best practices, development, and integration of software products.
- 5+ years of experience programming in server-side Java using J2EE and/or Spring technology for enterprise applications.
- 4+ years of experience writing Unit and automated tests.
- 3+ years of experience with AngularJS.
- 3+ years as a Team Lead (technical team size of 5 people or more), working with distributed teams.
- 3+ years of experience in Cloud platforms (Azure, AWS).
- Deep knowledge of relational databases (Oracle, SQL), design patterns, Kafka consumers, Jenkins, CI/CD, and Right-sizing of instances.
- Hands-on experience within all layers of an enterprise web application, from backend to frontend.
- Ability to write complex algorithms.
- Experience with modern software architectures (micro-services, back-end for front-end).
- Proven ability to meet deadlines and successfully complete deliverables.
- Experience with Agile Development or any other iterative software development methodology.
- Hands-on experience with continuous integration.
- Hands-on experience with the code review process, providing feedback to team members and mentoring.
- Requires a degree and/or at least 9 years of related experience. Certifications for AWS / Azure or other technologies are nice to have.
- Familiar with GitHub Copilot.
Requisite Abilities and Skills
- Demonstrate leadership of multidisciplinary development teams.
- Act as a consultant providing advisory in the area of expertise, building credibility and demonstrating leadership, engaging directly with the client.
- Possess excellent communication skills with the ability to translate client business needs into software development recommendations for a multidisciplinary team, project manager, business analyst, quality analyst, and developers.
- Demonstrate problem-solving skills to deal with complex situations while providing creative solutions.
- Strive for continuous improvement and personal development, proactively encouraging the same from team members.
- Proven track record of improving existing solutions through refactoring and processes.
Job Type & Location
- This is a Permanent position based out of Austin, TX.
Pay and Benefits
- The pay range for this position is $113,100.00 - $169,700.00/yr.
- We reserve the right to pay above or below the posted wage based on factors unrelated to sex, race, or any other protected classification.
- Additional earnings may be available through incentive programs like annual bonuses, profit sharing, etc.
