Network Security Engineer

Overview

We are seeking a highly skilled professional to support and advance key network security initiatives. This is a (Level 2) engineering role focused on designing, implementing, and maintaining secure network architectures, with a strong emphasis on segmentation and modern cloud-based security solutions.

The ideal candidate will bring deep expertise in Palo Alto technologies and a strong ability to translate security policies into effective technical controls. This role partners closely with Information Security to continuously improve overall security posture across environments.

Key Responsibilities

• Administer, maintain, and engineer Palo Alto security platforms, including Prisma Access, GlobalProtect, Strata Cloud Manager, and physical/virtual firewalls.
• Lead and execute network segmentation and micro-segmentation initiatives using Palo Alto capabilities.
• Configure and support advanced security features such as:
  • URL Filtering
  • DNS Security
  • Advanced Threat Protection
  • Device and endpoint security controls
• Integrate and support network access control (NAC) solutions, including Aruba ClearPass.
• Partner with Information Security teams to translate policies into scalable and enforceable technical implementations.
• Recommend and implement improvements to strengthen security posture and align with best practices.
• Provide troubleshooting, root cause analysis, and performance optimization.
• Contribute to architectural design and continuous improvement of network security infrastructure.
• Ensure operational excellence in a security-focused network engineering environment.

Required Qualifications

• Strong hands-on experience with Palo Alto security technologies.
• Proven expertise in network segmentation and micro-segmentation strategies.
• Experience with Prisma Access, GlobalProtect, and Strata Cloud Manager.
• Deep understanding of network security principles, firewall policies, and secure architecture design.
• Experience configuring security services such as URL Filtering, DNS Security, and threat prevention tools.
• Ability to collaborate cross-functionally and communicate technical concepts clearly.
• Strong problem-solving skills and ability to operate in complex environments.

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience with Aruba ClearPass or similar NAC solutions.
• Familiarity with Meraki and wireless deployments.
• Experience working in cloud or hybrid enterprise environments.
• Experience partnering with Information Security teams.

Job Type & Location

This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Bellevue, WA. The role is fully remote, with a preference for candidates located in the Greater Seattle area.

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $70.00 - $75.00/hr.
