Financial Institution Seeking Construction Defects Claims Consultant
This is a fully remote, 12-18 month contract position with the opportunity to go permanent.
Responsibilities:
- Investigate, evaluate, and resolve a caseload of 80-90 construction defect claims. Focus on a "run-off book" with minimal new losses. Primary states include FL, SC, CA, and TX, with some additional states. Metrics are book-based, focusing on claim reduction over time.
- Document all claim activities in electronic claim files, including emails, letters, coverage analysis, damage assessment, liability, and reserve changes, adhering to company guidelines.
- Analyze standard ISO GL policies and related provisions to determine duty to defend/indemnify, analyze covered damages, and issue position letters (including reservation of rights and denials).
- Understand risk transfer, issue timely tender letters, conduct aggressive follow-up, and respond to tenders from other parties.
- Direct and collaborate with legal counsel on claim handling strategy, expert utilization, and litigation management.
- Complete required reporting in a timely manner and escalate claims meeting specific metrics for management review.

Pay and Benefits:
- Pay Range: $35.00 - $50.00/hr
