Job description

Field & Technical Operations

TelStar National | Remote + 30--40% Travel | $95,000--$130,000 + Performance Bonus

TelStar National is a fast-growing turnkey AV, lighting, security, and network infrastructure company serving multi-unit and franchise clients nationwide. We pre-engineer and pre-configure everything --- our field teams execute. Now we need a leader to run that machine.

We're looking for an Operations Manager who knows AV/lighting systems from the ground up, has managed field crews across multiple simultaneous projects, and can represent us in front of a client on the day they open their doors.

What you'll own:

  • Client-facing project coordination from the front end --- aligning with client ops teams and their PMs on scheduling, site readiness, and deployment timing before a single crew member ships out
  • Crew and equipment deployment in coordination with our warehouse team, keeping people and packages moving in sequence with the agreed client schedule
  • QC walkthroughs, punch list resolution, and white-glove client commissioning at Grand Openings
  • Building a more capable, self-sufficient field team that solves problems without hand-holding
  • Proactively identifying AVL issues before they hit the field --- and driving fixes through engineering, documentation, and how we package our installs
  • Representing TelStar with professionalism every time a client is watching

You're the right person if you have:

  • 8+ years of hands-on AV/low-voltage installation experience
  • 8+ years managing field crews across multi-project environments
  • The organizational discipline to coordinate clients, crews, and equipment across concurrent projects without things falling through the cracks
  • Deep familiarity with commercial AV, DMX lighting systems, IP networking, and surveillance
  • The communication skills to lead a crew and walk a franchise owner through their systems on opening day
  • Bilingual English/Spanish? That's a major plus

Where this role goes:

This isn't a hire-and-hold position. As TelStar's project volume grows, junior project managers and site superintendents will be added beneath this role. The right candidate can operate independently today and build and lead a team tomorrow.

The setup:

Outside of travel, this job is fully remote and fully flexible. No office. No commute. No one timing your lunch break. You manage your own schedule --- be available for your crews, be accessible during business hours, and the rest is yours to structure.

Travel runs 30--40% of the time: site visits, QC walkthroughs, client commissioning, and occasional trips to our Texas warehouse. The other 60--70% is yours to work from wherever you work best.

Compensation & Benefits:

  • Base salary: $95,000--$130,000 DOE
  • Performance bonus pool: 15% of base salary target / 20% max --- tied to gross margin protection, job cost accuracy, and management assessment
  • End-of-year bonus possible
  • All travel covered + per diem
  • Company phone provided
  • Health insurance options (after 60 days)
  • Dental --- fully employer paid
  • 401(k) with employer safe harbor match (after 6 months)
