About the Role

Our Customer's mission is to empower individuals to foster community and strengthen global connections. They are building a unique company through their suite of apps and services, uniting billions worldwide by providing avenues for sharing what matters most and bringing people closer.

This is a contract position for a Public Policy Coordinator to support our customer's business objectives. The role is 100% remote, with a preference for candidates located in California or within the West Coast time zone.

Responsibilities

  • Conduct research and formulate policies concerning freedom of expression, online safety, cybersecurity, privacy, and digital products.
  • Analyze and articulate the potential trade-offs, risks, and benefits associated with policy changes and their implementation.
  • Develop policy documentation, enforcement guidelines, and related materials.
  • Undertake research on policy issues pertinent to the organization.
  • Monitor current news and political developments to assess their potential impact on products and AI systems.
  • Execute stress tests on AI systems to evaluate their performance against evolving policies and real-world scenarios.
  • Collaborate with senior team members on cross-functional policy and research initiatives.
  • Manage multiple projects and deadlines concurrently.

Skills And Qualifications

  • Possess 3-5 years of experience in policy, research, or a related field.
  • Demonstrate a strong grasp of U.S. politics and contemporary events.
  • Exhibit foundational knowledge of AI concepts and their applications.
  • Show a proven interest in policy domains such as social media, online content, technology, and e-commerce.
  • Possess robust analytical and critical thinking capabilities.
  • Exhibit excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Be able to synthesize complex information into clear, actionable insights.
  • Demonstrate the ability to manage multiple projects in a dynamic environment.
  • Familiarity with policy research institutions and think tanks, including Cato Institute, Institute for Free Speech, People United for Privacy Foundation, R-Street Institute, Hoover Institute, George Mason University, National Review, Federalist Society, and Gatestone Institute.
  • Exhibit strong attention to detail and research proficiency.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Prior experience working with or analyzing AI systems and their policy implications.
  • A background in public policy, political science, law, or a similar discipline.

Compensation and Benefits

A competitive salary range is offered for this position, with most hires placed at the median based on experience and qualifications.

Contractor benefits are accessible through our 3rd Party Employer of Record after completing a waiting period for eligible engagements.

Benefits include: Medical, Dental, Vision, 401k, FSA, and up to 15 days of accrued PTO per 12 months on assignment.
