Optum Behavioral Care is seeking a Mental Health Therapist to join their team in Madisonville and Athens, Tennessee. This clinician-led organization is dedicated to improving healthcare for everyone.

About the Role

As a Therapist in the Collaborative Care Model (CoCM), you will provide direct clinical services to patients within a primary care clinic. You will be an integral part of the Optum Behavioral Care (OBC) hybrid in-person/virtual collaborative care team, interfacing between patients, PCPs, and psychiatrists to support the mental and physical health of assigned OBC clients. You will have the full support of OBC's clinical and operational teams. This position is embedded within Summit Medical Group, with a Monday-Friday schedule and no weekends or holidays.

Hybrid Work Model

This role operates on a hybrid schedule, with one day per week worked remotely and the remaining days onsite at the medical clinic.

Position Highlights & Primary Responsibilities:

  • Coordinate care using virtual and in-person modalities with the patient's medical provider and other mental health providers.
  • Screen and assess patients for common mental health and substance abuse disorders.
  • Systematically track treatment response and monitor patients for changes in clinical symptoms or treatment side effects.
  • Support psychotropic medication management, focusing on adherence, side effects, and effectiveness.
  • Provide brief behavioral interventions using evidence-based techniques (e.g., behavioral activation, problem-solving treatment, motivational interviewing).
  • Participate in regular caseload consultations with the psychiatric consultant and communicate treatment recommendations to the medical provider.
  • Develop and complete relapse prevention self-management plans with patients nearing discharge.

Required Qualifications:

  • Licensure (Tennessee):
    • Licensed Clinical Social Worker (LCSW), Licensed Master Social Worker (LMSW), or Licensed Advanced Practice Social Worker (LAPSW)
    • Licensed Mental Health Counselor (LMHC)
    • Licensed Professional Counselor - MHSP (LPC-MHSP) or Licensed Professional Counselor - MHSP-Temporary (LPC-MHSP/T)
    • Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist (LMFT) or Licensed Marital and Family Therapist - Temporary (LMFT/T)
  • 3 years of experience treating patients with behavioral health conditions.
  • 1 year of experience in primary care or a medical behavioral integrated setting.
  • Experience with assessment and evidence-based psychosocial treatments for common mental health disorders.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience in the Collaborative Care Model (CoCM).
  • Demonstrated detail-orientation, organization, and follow-up capabilities.
  • Proven ability to maintain effective professional relationships with patients and care teams.
  • Proven ability to work with patients in person, by phone, and video.
  • Solid grasp of technology solutions and tools, with adaptability.

Compensation & Benefits:

Pay ranges from $58,800 to $105,000 annually, based on factors like local labor markets, education, experience, and certifications. Benefits include a comprehensive package, incentive programs, equity stock purchase, and 401k contribution (subject to eligibility).
