Job Summary

Under the direction of the Assistant Vice Chancellor for Communications and Marketing, the incumbent is charged with developing and implementing multi-channel communication plans to advance faculty and staff understanding and appreciation of university initiatives and policies.

Appointment Information

  • Budgeted Salary: $97,200 - $130,000/year.
  • Benefits Level Eligibility: Full benefits
  • Schedule Information: Full-time, Fixed (100%, 40 Hours per Week)

Job Duties

  • Content Creation and Management (60%): Develops and implements multi-channel communication plans; interprets complex issues for an employee audience; drives an editorial calendar.
  • Stakeholder Relationships (20%): Forges and maintains strong relationships across campus; consults with colleagues; works cross-functionally on campaigns.
  • Reputation Management (10%): Supports internal brand-building; monitors sentiment to identify reputational risks.
  • Crisis Communications (5%): Partners with colleagues on crisis planning; communicates with internal audiences during crises.
  • Miscellaneous (5%): Represents the unit's AVC at meetings and conferences.

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in related area and/or equivalent experience/training.
  • Advanced knowledge of communications, including strategic planning.
  • Advanced skills to create, develop, and implement long and short-term strategic communication plans.
  • Excellent written, verbal, interpersonal, and political acumen skills.
  • Excellent analytical, critical thinking, and project management skills.

Special Conditions of Employment

  • Pre-employment criminal history background check required.

  • Must be able to work a hybrid schedule.
  • Ability to work a variable schedule including evenings and weekends.
  • Compliance with UC Vaccination Policy.
