Job Summary

The College of Arts & Sciences at CU Boulder seeks an Academic Advisor to join a multi-disciplinary team. This role involves assisting students with academic planning, decision-making regarding their fields of study, college outcomes, and post-baccalaureate plans. Academic Advisors utilize a developmental advising approach to enhance student performance and persistence. Key responsibilities include helping students assess interests, values, and academic skills; supporting degree planning, course registration, and graduation timelines; and teaching students to navigate university systems, processes, and policies. Advisors personalize academic paths, offer co-curricular guidance, and make referrals. This role involves both one-on-one interactions and group settings through workshops, presentations, and campus events. Advisors must stay current on curricular requirements, academic policies, and opportunities within their specialty areas, providing accurate and timely information. A successful candidate will possess an agile mentality, an enthusiastic attitude, and a passion for working with students and colleagues. Advisors are relational, comfortable engaging with students in various formats, and exhibit strong communication skills and a student support orientation. The A&S developmental advising approach emphasizes relationship building, exploration, academic goal setting, and individual success.

This advising assignment will support science students in one of the following areas: (1) environmental studies with additional physical science majors as needed; (2) biologies; (3) psychology and neuroscience. While hired for a specific area, advisors may shift to different majors as student populations change.

CU Boulder is an Equal Opportunity Employer committed to diversity and inclusion. All qualified individuals, including protected veterans and individuals with disabilities, are encouraged to apply.
