Job Summary

The Leeds School of Business seeks an Assistant Director of Graduate Career Management. Reporting to the Director, this role is primarily responsible for enhancing job search skills and providing assistance to full-time MBAs, professional MBAs, and MS students.

This position plays a leadership role in helping graduate students develop clear professional goals and a focused plan, as their success in the marketplace is highly valued by the school. The Assistant Director will manage and support graduate business students throughout their job search process and contribute to the Graduate Career Management program.

The Assistant Director will lead student development activities, continually refining job search strategies for successful internships and permanent employment. This role also involves developing and implementing programs and workshops on topics such as interviewing, resume writing, and negotiation.

Key Responsibilities

Career Strategist

  • Lead one-on-one coaching and advising for MBA and MS students.
  • Act as a professional career coach for graduate students, recognizing their advanced experience.
  • Manage all aspects of graduate career strategies and develop feedback mechanisms for positive outcomes.
  • Provide tailored counseling, feedback, and assistance throughout students' graduate programs, addressing the challenges of one-year programs.
  • Create and supervise individual coaching career plans, develop realistic job strategies for full-time employment, monitor student progress, and provide guidance.
  • Lead group sessions on professional development.
  • Collect and report on student career outcomes.

Program Management

  • Design and conduct professional workshops, training sessions, and lectures on career-planning topics.
  • Assist with the development and delivery of the Professional Development workshop series.
  • Support the Leeds MS Analytics and MBA Mentoring Programs.
  • Lead other career-related activities, such as off-site interviewing, career fairs, and receptions.
  • Support the Director with projects including event planning, reporting placement statistics, and developing reports on corporate engagement and student success.

Corporate and Student Outreach

  • Collaborate with the Director to develop and execute an outreach strategy targeting new organizations for graduate student recruitment.
  • Build relationships with corporate leaders and recruiters to better counsel and prepare students for specific jobs and industries.

What You Should Know

  • This role offers a hybrid work modality with a minimum of three days in the office per week.
  • Approximate schedule: Monday-Friday, 8am-5pm.
  • Occasional evening work (4-6 instances per semester) may be required for Graduate Program events, with advance notice.

What We Can Offer

  • Annual hiring range: $62,400 - $70,000.
  • Relocation assistance is available for eligible candidates.

What We Require

  • Bachelor's degree in business or a closely related field from an accredited institution, or equivalent combination of education and/or experience.
  • 3+ years of experience in career services, MBA recruiting, or a related business field managing complex projects and/or caseloads.
